Three Cloud Communication Patents Granted to 8x8

The one to watch in 2017, 8x8 are increasing their UK marketshare more and more. With their new patents, they'll will be working to enhance their UC solutions and contact centre technology with world-class new experiences.

8x8, a leading provider of global Enterprise Communication solutions, has seen a significant amount of growth over the last year. Towards the end of January 2017, the company announced that it had been awarded three brand-new patents related to its technological innovations - designed to offer seamless enterprise communications on a global level, and improve contact centre UX.

According to 8x8's chairman and CTO, Bryan Martin, the company is committed to a desire to constantly push the boundaries in innovation, and offer their partners and customers the best solutions for addressing the evolving enterprise communication markets. Thanks to "one of the industries' leading patent portfolios", the brand will be working to enhance their UC solutions and contact centre technology with world-class new experiences.

The New Patents

The three patents delivered by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office were:

  • United States Patent 9,473,452, awarded on the 18th of October for the "NAT Traversal VoIP system". This patent covers an innovation from the company that has been designed to allow for a call control server to use algorithms in selecting from various proxy servers when routing a VoIP session between endpoint options.
  • United States Patent 9,479,648, awarded on the 25th of October 2016 as a continuation of an earlier patent given on the 2nd of January 2015. This patent surrounds the "Intelligent Media Relay Selection" created by 8x8. This second patent allows for a call control agent to select the appropriate media relay solutions intelligently located at various geographic locations, then route and maintain a VoIP call through the server.
  • United States Patent 9,531,879, awarded on the 27th of December 2016 for the "Networked Contact Centre User Interface Approach". This was a continuation of a patent awarded in August 2008. This patent surrounds the use of communication systems involving networked interfaces for contact centres, and how data can be presented in a user-friendly manner.
