Transparity Microsoft services acquisition

Transparity has acquired Microsoft pure play development specialist Ballard Chalmers, adding additional skills to its application development efforts on the Microsoft Azure platform.

Transparity currently employs around 150 staff, and says it plans to more than double this number to over 300 in the next two years, focusing on continued organic growth and strategic acquisitions such as Ballard Chalmers.

This July, Transparity acquired Microsoft specialist AMT Evolve to strengthen its expertise around Teams, SharePoint and the Power Platform. That acquisition marked the first since Transparity received investment from private equity firm Beech Tree in September 2020.

Ballard Chalmers provides custom software development on the Microsoft Azure platform. It has focused on the modernisation of legacy business applications and developing custom integrations between multiple software platforms in the cloud.

Ballard Chalmers clients will now have a broader range of capabilities on the Microsoft cloud platform from Transparity.

Andrew Chalmers, Managing Director of Ballard Chalmers, said of the deal: “We have recognised for a while now, that whilst we are great at what we do, customers are regularly asking us to manage their transition to Azure end-to-end.

"Being able to join Transparity means we can offer the whole stack from platform design, best practice governance and data centre migration to application modernisation and full 24x7 managed services.”

David Jobbins, CEO of Transparity, added: “We welcome the Ballard Chalmers staff to Team Transparity and the extensive experience they bring in app modernisation.

"We are looking at acquisitions like this to strengthen the core areas of our Microsoft strategy.”

This October, Transparity achieved the Microsoft Azure Expert Managed Service Provider (AEMSP) status. The accreditation is the highest level for Azure and covers planning, migration, optimisation, operation and management of cloud services on the platform.
