Zoom Launches AI Tools

Zoom has announced the launch of new generative AI features that will aid users in composing emails and chat messages.

The features, integrated into Zoom IQ, have been developed in collaboration with OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, and will also summarize chat threads and create meeting agendas.

The three key features of the new AI tools include chat compose, email compose, and meeting summary. The email products, which were announced last year, are now available and allow users to plug in third-party email services such as Outlook and Gmail into the Zoom platform.

Additionally, Zoom Calendar has been given a makeover with a new persistent sidebar and the Zoom Contact Center is now available globally with a new workforce engagement management feature.

Microsoft Showcases New Teams Generation

Microsoft has launched a public preview of its new Microsoft Teams Windows application, which promises to be faster, simpler, and more efficient than its predecessor.

According to Jeff Teper, President of Collaborative Apps and Platforms at Microsoft, the company has redesigned Teams from the ground up, taking into account feedback from users. The new app is built with speed, performance, flexibility, and intelligence in mind, allowing users to collaborate more efficiently.

Teper also stated that the app is twice as fast as the current version and uses half the system resources, thanks to a platform overhaul and collaboration with benchmarking firm GigaOm to verify the improvements. The new app will also streamline the user experience, making it easier to find everything in one place, and enable game-changing new AI-powered experiences like Copilot for Microsoft Teams.
