Cohesity has confirmed the acquisition of enterprise data protection provider Veritas
The integration of Veritas’ tech will make Cohesity the “world’s largest data protection software provider by market share.”
Indeed, moving forward, Cohesity will be deployed by over 12,000 enterprise customers, which includes 85 of the Fortune 100 and almost 70 percent of the Global 500.
According to Cohesity, the AI-powered data security vendor is responsible for protecting hundreds of exabytes of the world’s data, with the company now offering the broadest workload support in the data protection industry.
In addition, the tech firm has set a record as the fastest data protection company to achieve $1.5 billion in revenue, reaching this milestone in just 11 years.
While it has not yet been confirmed precisely how the two companies will operate in the future, Veritas’ website has updated its logo to include that it is “now part of Cohesity.”
In discussing the news, Sanjay Poonen, President and CEO of Cohesity, described the deal as “major milestone in the 11-year history of Cohesity, whose mission is to protect, secure, and provide insights into the world’s data.”
By combining Cohesity’s scale-out architecture and strong generative AI and security capabilities with Veritas’ broad workload support and extensive global footprint, our customers and partners stand to gain more value from their data than ever.
“As promised, we will honor our ‘no customer left behind’ commitment, supporting existing products from both companies for years to come.”
So, let’s take a look at how the incorporation of Veritas’ tech will benefit customers.
Fresh Data Protection Capabilities
While Cohesity was already a big player in the data protection space – with the likes of IBM, Cisco, AWS, and Google Cloud amongst its client base – the company claims that the addition of Veritas’ features will provide customers with the following additional benefits:
Industry-Leading Innovation and Capabilities
Cohesity detailed how the new combined company will deliver cutting-edge solutions in data security and management by leveraging cloud-scale architecture and AI-powered technologies.
Its offerings include generative AI (GenAI) insights, a user-friendly management interface, and robust multi-cloud data protection capabilities.
Commitment to Customer Investments
Cohesity emphasized the company’s commitment to the ongoing development and enhancement of its current and acquired product lines.
This includes existing Cohesity services and Veritas solutions, such as Veritas NetBackup, appliances, and Alta data protection products.
Customers can rely on continued innovation and alignment with the roadmap, safeguarding their long-term investments.
Global Reach and Superior Customer Support
With an enhanced global footprint, Cohesity will be able to further integrate its comprehensive “follow-the-sun” customer success model.
The vendor believes that enterprises will benefit from consistent, high-quality support aimed at delivering positive outcomes and ensuring smooth and efficient operations regardless of time or location.
Advanced AI for Data Management
The company’s patent-pending AI capabilities will provide “tremendous” benefits in data protection, management, and resilience.
The vendor promises that these innovations will help enterprises derive deeper insights and unlock greater value from their data, empowering them to make informed decisions and enhance operational efficiency.
Extensive Partner Ecosystem
The merger establishes one of the industry’s most extensive partner networks, encompassing cloud service providers, security firms, system integrators, MSPs, technology ecosystem collaborators, and hardware OEMs.
This robust ecosystem enhances Cohesity’s ability to deliver comprehensive solutions and meet diverse customer needs.
Although the news is still fresh, it has already made an impression on one of Cohesity’s major customers, Nvidia.
Jensen Huang, Founder and CEO of NVIDIA, expressed his enthusiasm for the future of Cohesity and the two firms’ continued partnership:
“We want to congratulate Cohesity on completing their Veritas acquisition. NVIDIA is excited to partner with Cohesity as they build their GenAI products on top of the NVIDIA AI Enterprise.
Cohesity is backing up and protecting the world’s data – a goldmine of business value that customers can unlock with GenAI.
