IGEL enhances Microsoft Teams for IGEL OS-powered Linux endpoints connecting to Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows 365.
The managed endpoint operating system provider, IGEL, specialises in delivering secure access to digital workspaces.
IGEL has been working with Microsoft for the past two years to develop new Teams’ capabilities to improve employee collaboration.
Jed Ayres, CEO of IGEL, said: “IGEL is proud to be teaming with Microsoft to bring to market an optimised Microsoft Teams experience on Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows 365 for enterprises of any size.
“Optimised Teams support has become a mandatory requirement since the start of the pandemic and continues to be essential in today’s hybrid world.
“This technology offers a seamless experience, without trade-offs, for users of Teams on IGEL OS-powered Linux endpoints.”
The partnership between IGEL and Microsoft began in November 2019 when it received membership as an early adopter of the Azure Virtual Desktop partner program.
IGEL was recognised by Microsoft as a key Linux device partner, and in 2020, IGEL launched the first Linux client supporting Azure Virtual Desktop. Microsoft then co-founded the IGEL Ready technology partner program.
Since then, Microsoft and IGEL have worked together to create high-performance Teams experiences on IGEL-OS endpoints to match the quality of Windows endpoints.
Last year, IGEL awarded Microsoft the IGEL Ready Partner of the Year for 2021 award.
According to IGEL, users of the co-created Azure Virtual Desktop Teams experience enjoy the solution’s numerous benefits.
Kam VedBrat, Director, Azure Virtual Desktop, Microsoft, said: “IGEL is a valued Microsoft technology partner and has worked with the Microsoft engineering team shoulder to shoulder to create an optimised Microsoft Teams experience for Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows 365 with the Linux-powered IGEL OS.
“Together, we are able to provide our mutual customers with robust collaboration experiences, smooth video, dynamic screen-sharing, and advanced Teams capabilities, delivered with the ease of management and security that are hallmarks of the IGEL operating system.”
The Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows 365 Teams optimisation is now available in version 11.07.110 of the IGEL OS.
IGEL has more than 130 technology partners with offices in the U.S. and Europe. Its partnerships spread its solutions across more than 50 countries.
In 2021, IGEL released a Zoom plugin for Windows Virtual Desktop to support remote collaboration.
