Ribbon has been adding to its enterprise communications capabilities with recent new product announcements designed to make it easier for enterprises and their workers to use cloud for communications and collaboration. The company has been focusing on helping customers migrate to cloud platforms for their communications and collaboration and is helping them in the transition from legacy, on-premise hardware to efficient, flexible, cloud-based systems.

As part of this strategy, Ribbon recognises the importance of collaborating with partners to ensure service providers can enable enterprises with the applications they want to use for communications while also optimising their transformations to ensure their existing investments in technologies can be fully realized. To help simplify and accelerate enablement of cloud communications, Ribbon has recently unveiled a major extension of the Ribbon Connect portfolio, Ribbon Connect for Webex. A multi-tenant, software as a service (SaaS) solution, Ribbon Connect for Webex enables service providers to rapidly deliver telephony services to Webex Calling deployments anywhere in the world via Cloud Connect. The Ribbon Connect portfolio uses advanced tools and streamlined workflows, accelerating service providers’ connections to Webex and reduces time to market.

“Ribbon and Webex share some of the world’s largest service providers as customers and we’re committed to continually improving our offerings to help them succeed in a dynamic landscape,” says Tony Scarfo, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Cloud and Edge Business Unit at Ribbon.

“We’re extending our Ribbon Connect portfolio to accelerate their access to new revenue sources and empower them to retain organisations migrating to cloud-based calling as customers.”

In addition to the Webex collaboration, Ribbon has been working to ensure cloud communications services are available globally to enterprises. To help achieve this, Ribbon has achieved certification for five of its session border controllers (SBCs), the SBC 5400, SBC SWe, SBC SWe Edge, SBC 1000, and SBC 2000 for use with Google’s new SIP Link. This service enables Google Cloud business customers to use Google Voice telephony services across the globe.

Ribbon’s SBC portfolio, which is widely deployed in service provider networks around the globe, offers organisations secure telecoms connectivity to help block unauthorised access and fraud, call encryption, and to protect the wider enterprise data network from bad actors. The SBCs are designed and tested to provide robust SIP security and interoperability, including with legacy PBXs, contact centres, analogue devices, SIP devices and hundreds of different telecoms providers.

“SIP Link is an important initiative in the ongoing quest to make cloud-based voice services more broadly available to organisations and their workers,” explains Scarfo.

“We’re proud to partner with Google Cloud to showcase our ability to support cloud-based telephony solutions that enhance employee productivity anywhere in the world.”
