Cisco oversaw a “record quarter” for Webex in its Q3, according to CEO Chuck Robbins.

The Chief Exec was speaking as Cisco reported a return to year-on-year revenue growth, with sales for the period ending 1 May 2021 climbing seven percent to $12.8bn.

Cisco does not break out revenue for Webex but Robbins said the collaboration platform saw a double-digit sales rise.

“We had a record quarter in Webex, as we execute against our strategy to power the future of hybrid work,” he said.

“Over the last six months, we’ve added more than 400 new features and devices to our WebEx portfolio”

“We are enabling seamless experiences through our desk camera and desk hub solutions while extending the Webex suite of devices, including digital signage, touchless calls, room capacity alerts, and environmental sensors to help enable a safe return to the office.”

Webex has had a busy six months that have included two bolt-on acquisitions in the form of Slido and Socio Labs.

There has also been an increased focus on wellbeing, with a new People Insights feature recently added.

By integrating Slido and Socio Labs into our Webex platform, we will also be able to provide the most comprehensive internal and external event management solution on the market,” Robbins added.

Cisco also said it had a record quarter in cybersecurity, with revenue rising 13 percent year on year to $875m.

Much of the earnings call was dominated by the semiconductor shortage which is set to plague the technology industry for the rest of this year.

Cisco said it expects to incur increased costs as a result, which contributed to its share price declining as much as six percent in after-hours trading.
