Webex Go with AT&T is now available to order, giving enterprises a converged mobility and unified communications solution that can help enable successful hybrid working.
The service, also known as - AT&T Cloud Voice with Webex Go - sees the Webex platform combined with AT&T’s 5G network to provide users with a virtually seamless experience as they move between devices and locations.
Webex Go with AT&T arrives in the market at a time of unprecedented change with the explosion of hybrid and work-from-anywhere models. Employees are becoming more mobile and want user friendly tools that allow them to work smarter from the location of their choice.
From a technology perspective, this has huge consequences. Employees want the same work experience wherever they’re working on a given day, and they also want to use devices they’re familiar with, particularly smartphones.
With Webex Go with AT&T, gone are the days of having a separate number for your mobile, Webex app, and desk phone. A user’s AT&T business mobile number is there caller ID for all devices, meaning they can make and receive calls through both the Webex app, Webex Devices and native smartphone dialers.
Speaking as the service launched at Cisco’s flagship WebexOne event last month, Doug Jones, AVP of Product Management at AT&T highlighted a range of features that make the offering unique in the market.
To provide users with a great experience, two aspects are in place. Firstly, the voice will be transmitted over AT&T's wireless network, helping provide high-quality voice on 5G-enabled business mobile phones. Secondly, there will be a preferential quality of service provision for Webex Go application data, which will help deliver a consistent and clean mobile user experience, especially during times of network congestion.
“We’ve worked hard to make sure we roll out something that is different to anything else in the marketplace,” Jones said. “There are many unique and exciting things we’ve developed together.”
The Age of Hybrid Work
The latest market research supports the need for a modern mobility solution like Webex Go. A report from Cavell Group, commissioned by AT&T, found that there was around one million mobile-enabled cloud communications users in the US at the end of 2022. However, this is expected to rocket to 7.3 million by 2027, demonstrating demand from users.
The report stated that existing technology used by enterprises to deliver such flexibility to employees is often subpar.
“Despite the ability to use fixed-line communications on mobile devices being available for years, the solution has only recently become advanced enough to provide a viable solution to enterprises,” it read.
“This developed into an over-the-top UC app for voice and video. However, these apps would generally require Wi-Fi connectivity as cellular connectivity was not able to handle the bandwidth requirement.
