Workplace from Facebook has hit seven million paid subscribers, Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, has revealed.
Posting on Facebook, Zuckerberg said the figure has risen 40 per cent over the last year.
“We built Workplace as an internal version of Facebook to run our own company, and it was so useful we started letting other organizations use it too, including everyone from Spotify to Starbucks to the World Health Organization,” he said.
“More companies are starting to use our virtual reality tools for work as well, and I'm excited to work on more new ways for people to work together that weren't possible before”
In a press release, Facebook said that other high-profile customers of the platform include BT, Virgin Atlantic, Deliveroo and AstraZeneca. It said that the growth in customers is coming as companies are “thinking about how to build communities at work”.
It also claimed to be “uniquely positioned” to help do this, citing functions such as real-time communications and live video.
Julien Codorniou, Vice President at Workplace, said: “One of the long-term impacts of the pandemic is that employees expect more from their employers.
