Zoom has launched healthcare and higher education summarization capabilities for its AI Companion solution.
Announced as part of Zoomtopia 2023, Zoom has expanded AI Companion's summarisation capabilities to new industry customers in higher education and healthcare.
Zoom also announced a new idea capability for AI Companion, the idea generation board in Whiteboard, which is now generally available, and outlined the next waves of compelling features currently in development for the generative AI assistant.
"Zoom is continuing to invest in AI throughout our platform and taking a leadership stance in AI technology by being transparent that communications-like customer content will not be used to train Zoom's AI models or its third-party artificial intelligence models," said Mahesh Ram, Head of AI Applications at Zoom.
With the incredible capabilities of Zoom AI Companion, knowledge workers can have the power of large language models in their pockets without breaking the bank. Zoom AI Companion is built to assist with everyday tasks, including Whiteboard capabilities, providing a boost of productivity whenever it’s needed."
Users can now manage their AI Companion settings for Meetings, Team Chat, Whiteboard, and Mail all in one uniform space via the web portal.
With the new Whiteboard capability, users can now create ideas on a digital whiteboard before organising the ideas into different categories, allowing teams to speed up productive work.
Future AI Companion Features
Zoom also teased future AI Companion features.
One of the most eye-catching future capabilities is that the AI Companion conversational interface will empower users to interact with the AI so that it can understand the context of prompts and subsequently help users with content across the Zoom platform, such as previous meetings, chats, and, notably, third-party apps.
In practice, it can pinpoint knowledge from meetings, chats, whiteboards, emails, documents, and third-party apps to offer the latest updates, provided the user grants permission. Users can ask AI Companion real-time questions during a meeting to learn the key points. They can also create a support ticket on a meeting issue. The meeting summaries, essential action items and next steps identified can then be shared with relevant stakeholders in Zoom Chat or over a third-party app.
