Zoom Launches New Whiteboard

Zoom Whiteboard boosts asynchronous collaboration with sticky notes, comments, version control and Oculus Horizon Workrooms support.

Zoom Whiteboard launch

Zoom has launched a new whiteboard designed to boost asynchronous collaboration.

The whiteboard is designed to be a virtual hub for teams, with functionality including sticky notes, commenting and virtual reality support.

Jeff Smith, Head of Zoom Rooms, said: “One thing we’ve learned over the past 18 months is that you don’t have to be in person to collaborate effectively.

“It’s persistent collaboration using powerful tools on any device, so your teams have the creative space to work together, wherever”

“And with the all-new Zoom Whiteboard, we’re further enabling teams to bring their ideas to life, no matter where they are.”

Zoom Whiteboard can be launched via both the Zoom client and through a web browser. It can also be used whilst in a Zoom Meeting or a Zoom Room.

Whiteboards can be shared via email and Zoom Chat, and can also be worked on from within the Chat interface.

Whiteboard features include:

  • The ability to attach sticky notes to the board for meetings or to highlight an idea or action
  • Comments that can be added to any part of a whiteboard and viewed all at once in a side panel
  • Version controls to manage the flow of information

The announcement came at the same time that Zoom revealed a partnership with Oculus. As part of the collaboration, Zoom Whiteboards will be integrated with Horizon Workrooms.
