Zoom has appointed Kimberly Storin as its new Chief Marketing Officer to oversee the branding and communications of the AI-powered all-in-one collaboration platform.
At Zoom, Storin will lead the company’s brand, communications, product marketing, enterprise marketing, and regional marketing functions. She takes over from Janine Pelosi, who departed Zoom in 2023 to become CEO of video collaboration company Neat.
"I'm thrilled to share that I’ve joined Zoom as Chief Marketing Officer!" Storin wrote on LinkedIn.
Long before stepping into this role, I was a passionate Zoom customer—both in business and personally. I’ve trusted Zoom for everything from critical enterprise meetings to large-scale All Hands and SKOs to connecting with friends and family. I’ve seen firsthand how it transforms the way people work, collaborate, and communicate."
Storin joins from Zayo Group, a comms and bandwidth infrastructure firm, where she served as CMO since 2021. Prior to that, she led marketing at software provider RapidDeploy and held senior marketing leadership positions at major tech companies, including IBM, AMD, and Dell.
"Now, with AI at the core of a secure and trusted platform, Zoom is shaping the future of connection in ways far beyond video," Storin added. "I’m excited to help tell that story alongside an incredible team as we unlock the next chapter of growth and innovation."
Is This Appointment to Help Affirm Zoom's Rebrand as an All-in-One AI Collab Platform?
Given that the CMO role has been vacant for two years, why might Zoom be looking to hire someone to fill the position now? This move is likely to support Zoom's ongoing brand evolution from the video conferencing tool it became famous for during the pandemic to the comprehensive collaboration platform underpinned by AI it is today.
"Two big changes over the past two years: The company made two big pivots," Dave Michels, a leading Analyst and Founder at TalkingPointz, suggested on LinkedIn. "First it went from meetings to workplace (don’t think of a Zoom as video company). Just as that was becoming normal, Zoom transitioned again to an AI-first company. It’s not an OpenAI or Anthropic, but ZAIC has a much larger vision than enabling comms and collaboration. The EC25 keynote was all about AI-assisted workflows across multiple workloads."
