8x8 end-to-end encryption for video meetings

Leading provider of integrated cloud communications solutions, 8x8, recently announced that it is on a path to truly secure and optimised video meetings. 8x8 is dedicated to achieving end-to-end encryption in a time when competitors like Zoom are struggling to deliver the security that their customers demand. Currently, no other video meeting platform supports end-to-end encryption, and 8x8 wants to bring an end to that problem.

8x8 Video Meetings Pro is a solution powered by the Jitsi open source community for secure video meetings technology. This video solution will run on the Oracle cloud infrastructure, offering optimised security and performance on the cloud – ideal for workloads like video meeting and collaboration. The announcement of this secure solution comes just after Jitsi previously published its specifications for truly end-to-end encrypted WebRTC-based video meetings.

Jitsi has welcomed crypto enthusiasts to review and trial the product to ensure that there are absolutely no holes in the security.

Creating a Secure Meeting Environment

As video meetings become a more crucial part of our day-to-day work lives, 8x8 believes that it’s important for business leaders to feel that their communication strategies are secure and reliable. The CEO of 8x8, Vik Verma, said that video meetings from 8x8, powered by the Jitsi open-source technology had been designed from the ground-up with a focus on security and privacy.

The code that the 8x8 video meeting solution is based on is hardened by over a million downloads, and countless applications. Thanks to an API for insertable stream technology that recently appeared in Chrome Canary, the 8x8 open source conferencing product is on the path to creating the most secure and private form of communication ever designed in the video landscape.

8x8 even collaborated with leading cloud technology provider, Oracle, to ensure that they could create the most secure product. The Oracle cloud top-tier security and performance are embedded into the heart of the 8x8 product.

Securing your Business Meetings

The 8x8 video meeting solution, powered by the Oracle cloud, will be available from 8x8 and within the Oracle marketplace. Where other providers have kept their code hidden, 8x8’s open approach to exploring the world of security has allowed it to produce a more private and hardened offering for businesses who need more protection working from home.

The new solution is currently available in addition to the 8x8 Video Meetings Free solution, which includes unlimited usage and dial-in numbers for over 55 international countries. Privacy settings are built-in, so that you can password protect your video meetings, and blur your background when necessary too. This means that employees can protect their pride as well as their security by blurring out a messy office.
