ASOS has signed a three-year AI collaboration agreement with Microsoft to enhance worker productivity and efficiency.
ASOS had already been leveraging Microsoft AI solutions, encompassing process automation through Power Automate and automated meeting summaries, notes, actions, and live translations through Teams Premium. ASOS is also utilising Microsoft Copilot, including Copilot for Microsoft 365 and Copilot for Github, which the retail vendor has been deploying since early 2023 to assist its engineering teams in producing code.
Victoria Arden, Director of Technology Operations at ASOS, commented:
A core part of our business strategy is driving operational excellence within ASOS: making sure we’re as fast, efficient, and effective as we can be, and investing our time and resources in the projects that matter. Under this new agreement, we’re helping ASOSers safely experiment with generative AI tools that can remove ‘busy work’ from their day, freeing them up to unlock greater creativity and insights and focus on delighting our customers."
Building on its existing collaboration with Microsoft, ASOS has reaffirmed its commitment by signing a five-year agreement to maintain Microsoft Azure as its cloud platform of choice. ASOS says this alliance underscores its dedication to leveraging Azure's AI prowess to enhance its digital infrastructure, prioritising swift, efficient, and data-informed decision-making processes.
In a move to further enrich the customer experience, ASOS introduced an AI Stylist powered by Azure OpenAI services this year. Developed with early access to Microsoft's Gen AI tools, this feature offers customers personalised style recommendations through a conversational interface that aligns with ASOS's brand voice. ASOS highlights that AI Stylist exemplifies its focus on integrating cutting-edge technology to transform the fashion retail landscape.
"AI and Machine Learning are already transforming how we work at ASOS, whether it’s supporting better demand forecasting, helping with data-driven decision-making, or powering our recommendation system – delivering billions of product recommendations to our customers per day," said Papinder Dosanjh, Director of AI and Machine Learning at ASOS.
"Working with Microsoft, we continue to drive innovation in this area, always aligned to our principles of safe and responsible experimentation and development.”
