BlueJeans enhanced secure video calling

BlueJeans, one of the market leaders in video conferencing, recently announced a new selection of features for users. These core capabilities will help to enhance meeting security, time management, and engagement. The update was driven by increasing demand for a more natural collaboration environment in the work from home landscape. As more of the world accepts remote working as crucial form of business continuity, these secure experiences are key.

BlueJeans Meetings is working hard to keep employees connected and productive in these trying times. The company saw a 300% greater increase in use over its average before COVID-19. As companies were forced to work remotely, people have used BlueJeans to scale safely into the cloud.

Improving the User Experience

For over a decade, users have been reliant on BlueJeans for an enterprise-grade meeting experience that doesn’t compromise on security.

The vast majority of meetings are now happening online, now that in-person conversations aren’t possible. However, criminals have also been working on disrupting online interactions. To protect today’s companies, BlueJeans layered extra security measures onto their existing environment. These features include new capabilities that hosts can use to protect their meetings, such as:

  • Restricted Meetings: This new capability provides extra authentication modes for restricting meeting access. Only invited participants will be able to join a meeting using a unique passcode. Restricted meetings will protect both internal and external conversations
  • Waiting rooms: The new Waiting Room from BlueJeans will help hosts to control exactly who has access to a meeting
  • AES-256 Encryption: All content, including video and audio, will be encrypted using high-standard methods for security and faster output
  • Screen sharing controls: Admins will be able to control who can access screen sharing functionality in the enterprise, as well as at an individual and per-meeting level
  • Quick lock: This feature at the top of the screen will allow meeting hosts to prevent unwanted guests from joining a confidential conversation

Improving the Work From Home Experience

The last couple of months have created a lot of uncertainty for today’s teams. Businesses need to ensure that they have the right communication systems in place if they’re going to help their teams thrive in this trying time. Fortunately, BlueJeans has various tools to offer here, such as:

  • Interaction abilities: Employees have one-click access to hand clapping, raise hand, and thumbs up/down actions, as well as a “drop the mic” feature
  • Native virtual backgrounds: Users will be able to avoid showing their messy backgrounds with either a blur option, or a native virtual background. BlueJeans is partnering with Shutterstock for access to more image options
  • Meeting transcription: Intelligent transcription is now available as a meetings add-on, to help make conversations in the workplace more searchable
  • Floating view: Attendees will be able to keep track of meeting conversations, even when BlueJeans isn’t the primary application window on the desktop
  • Slack integration: The enhanced Slack integration from BlueJeans will automatically provide Slack channels with Smart Meeting summaries to share important conversational details, including various highlights and action items

According to CEO of Aragon Research, Jim Lundy:

“Video conferencing has become fundamental to everyday business success”

BlueJeans’ new features for security and customer experience will ensure that organisations can work as securely and productively as possible.
