Webex by Cisco has released new capabilities on iPad to increase workplace engagement and productivity.

Webex for iPad is receiving support for Multiple Windows and Stage Manager, which will increase work efficiency for hybrid workers by making it easier for users to multitask.

These features have already been made live on the Webex Meetings iPad app.

Jeetu Patel, EVP/GM, Security and Collaboration at Cisco, said: “Today’s hybrid work environment is more dynamic than ever.

“At Cisco, we believe people need to be empowered to work on their terms. And that requires making workflows intuitive and powerful for hybrid workers wherever work happens.

“The latest developments for Webex by Cisco on iPad address precisely this. New Webex Meeting experiences on iPad help everyone accomplish tasks more efficiently, resulting in higher engagement and productivity.”

Last year, Webex released Picture in Picture (PiP) for Webex Meetings on iPad and iPhone, which allowed users to continue watching their meetings on a smaller window while simultaneously looking at other applications.

This makes it easier for participants to find relevant content for the meeting, for example, without losing track of what is being shared, shown, or said in the meantime.

The continued popularity of live collaboration during meetings has led to new solutions which make it even easier to view and interact with content from multiple sources while engaging over video.

The latest update is a natural progression from PiP, which focuses on achieving a greater balance between the application and window sizes to better reflect where the focus of workers lies.

Shared content and in-meeting chat can now be popped out into a second window and then resized to fit the user’s needs.

Multiple windows allow users to connect their iPads to Cisco devices, such as the

Desk Pro, or any external display.

Using the “Move to Display” option, they are then able to move the windows between their iPad and the external display, gaining the much sought-after screen space to use during live collaboration sessions.

Stage Manager is also now supported on Webex Meetings, enabling users to switch between apps by moving and resizing app windows to achieve the optimal view.

Webex and iPad

As well as Multiple Windows and Stage Manager, Webex has added several features to improve the working experience for its iPad users.

Apple pencils can be used for in-app whiteboarding, helping to enhance productivity and making the app feel more natively connected to the Apple device.

Webex Meetings for Apple CarPlay lets users view and join meetings with a single touch. You can also review and listen back to recorded meetings via a recorded playback functionality. Microsoft Teams also received CarPlay support for calls in April 2022.

Earlier this month, Mercedes-Benz announced its 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class would support meetings via Zoom and Webex.

Mobile Camera Share in Webex meetings lets participants share their iPhone or iPad camera feed, which has use cases such as product demos, 3D work models, floor layouts, and more.

UC Today recently reviewed Cisco Webex Meetings for Microsoft Teams, which includes a run-down of the key features you can expect.
