DWS aims for 15,000 Partners after Giacom Purchase

Why DWS’s Giacom buy matters: it boosts partners to 5,000+ and aims for 15,000 as Microsoft cloud, SaaS and UC expand. Published on UC Today.

DWS Giacom acquisition partner growth

Digital Wholesale Solutions’ acquisition of Giacom will fuel fresh partner growth to the tune of a 300% increase.

That is the hope of DWS CEO, Terry O’Brien, who is aiming to serve 15,000 partners as the communication provider opens up its portfolio to include cloud services. Partner numbers have been boosted by 3,300 already to surpass 5,000 as a result of the acquisition.

DWS is on track to hit revenue figures of £265 million as a result of the acquisition following 19/20 financial years that saw a seven percent increase in turnover to hit £189 million. Giacom reached £48 million in revenue, a 35% increase year on year.

“I've always kept a close eye on Giacom, to see how it's performing as the IT, telecoms and cloud markets continue to converge” said O’Brien, “therefore I always knew Cloud services, Microsoft services and SaaS services would become a critical factor for our partners.

As we’ve gone through this COVID period, people have had to embrace this very different way of working using new technologies that have accelerated that convergence. So it felt like it was the right moment for us to transform our business, and it is a major transformation for us, because it literally moves us from having a really good reputation and background in growing business in that UC, comms, connectivity and mobile world, and very firmly puts us in that cloud space.

Giacom is a major partner with Microsoft, has a good cloud marketplace with backup and security services and this acquisition firmly puts us in that camp now. I hope that we can grow to provide support and service to 15,000 partners, not just five and a half thousand we have now.

We'll get to that figure over time with partners choosing to do business with us, maybe through some further acquisitions and through offering our partners access to the best-of-breed products in that IT, telecoms and Cloud space.”
