Okta, a leading identity and access management company, recently revealed the sixth edition of its Businesses @ Work report. For the sixth year in a row, the company has reported on how the workplace has changed, looking into data from over 7,400 customers and the Okta integration Network, which includes over 6,500 integration with cloud, web and mobile apps around the world.
According to Okta, there have been some major changes to the way that we work over the last couple of years, including companies ditching applications that aren’t engaging, and finding new solutions more tailored to their needs. This also means that companies are turning away from one-size-fits-all solutions in favour of tools that come with apps and integration opportunities.
Examining the Most Popular and Fastest-Growing Apps
For the first time, Okta welcomed Github and Lucidchart to the top 15 list of popular app options according to customer numbers in their report. UltiPro and Zoom were at the top of the ranks for popularity by unique active users, and G Suite also earned more users than Salesforce.
In both popularity rankings for both number of customers, and number of users, Office 365 was at the head of the crowd, with G Suite lagging behind at position number 4. However, the G Suite did demonstrate a faster growth rate, increasing the number of new customers in its ranks by 37%.
Among the fastest-growing apps and integrations commended by Okta were Snowflake, Atlassian Opsgenie, the Google Cloud Platform, Envoy, Looker, and Splunk. According to Okta, Snowflake had a 273% growth year over year, while Zoom set some new records as a video conferencing favourite too.
All the while, demand for app diversity in the workspace continues to grow, with more than 10% of customers saying they deploy around 200 apps or more. Additionally, the average number of apps per person reached 88.
