Our usual expert guest and Microsoft MVP Tom Arbuthnot, from Modality Systems, joins Patrick to review all of the Microsoft Teams news from the past few weeks.
Patrick and Tom review UC EXPO 2019 which concluded last month in London. Both Patrick and Tom were on stage top discuss various aspects of the collaboration industry.
The guys then move on to discuss this month's news. Firstly Tom tells Patrick about the announcements from Microsoft Build which was its development conference which also took place during May. There has been quite a bit of development with the Teams APIs which will enable further automation.
Potentially the biggest piece of news this month related to VDI support for Microsoft Teams. Citrix have announced that HDX optimisation for audio and video in Microsoft Teams for VDI environments will be made available in the coming weeks. Tom explains that this will be hugely popular for large enterprises who operate VDI platforms. Citrix have revealed that is has over 700 thousand Skype for Business users who use the equivalent feature currently, who could all potentially now replicate the functionality with Teams.
Tom also takes Patrick through some other new updates. There are new PSTN routing options now available for Microsoft Teams allowing connection to Microsoft Cloud Auto Attendant and Call Queues. Also the extremely popular Outlook mobile application for both Android and iOS devices, which apparently has over 100 million users, has now been updated to enable direct scheduling of Microsoft Teams meetings.
