Collaboration hardware vendor Owl Labs has launched an in-room control centre for video meetings.
When paired with the 360-degree camera Meeting Owl Pro, the Meeting HQ device sits in the middle of the table and lets users launch meetings with a single tap and no requirement to plug anything into an external computer.
Meeting HQ allows users to switch between different videoconferencing platforms within a single hardware solution, in order to meet with external customers or partners. The devices work with both Zoom and Google Meet, and with a Microsoft Teams integration due in the coming months.
The device integrates with an organisation’s calendar and room booking system, including Google Workspace and Outlook. IT teams can set the device up on the company’s calendar as a room resource, which then allows any calendar invites to be automatically added to the Meting HQ calendar. When in-person attendees enter the conference room, they can just tap the meeting on Meeting HQ’s screen to join their remote colleagues.
Just eight percent of meeting rooms globally are wired for videoconferencing, with this number set to rise to 30 percent by 2025, according to research from Frost & Sullivan.
