I was lucky enough to attend the 3CX & Snom event this year, which was organised by ProVu, the UK distributor for Snom and 3CX. The event took place in Manchester, on Wednesday the 24th of May 2017, and included appearances from a range of key people, including the ProVu Sales Director and Founder, Ian Godfrey, Paul Clarke and Winston Smith from 3CX, and Alison Tetlow from Snom to name a few.

The conference was attended by a range of prospective and existing 3CX channel partners, who had come to learn as much as they could about the latest update on the 3CX product portfolio, and which features make this new portfolio such a winning solution for the current market. The event also covered the latest v.15.5 version of the system, which adds a brand new level of functionality.

Winston Smith’s 3CX Update

The event began with an introduction from Ian Godfrey, who offered a little background on the relationship that ProVu have with Snom and 3CX. Soon after, Paul Clarke took over to introduce 3CX, and Winston Smith, who began to lead the insight into the update for 2017.

Winston revealed that 3CX now have an installed base of over 50,000 customers, and are acting as a 100% channel-focused company, meaning that they sell entirely through accredited UK partners. Though the business is headquartered in Cyprus, they recently opened a new office in Tampa Florida, and play on an international stage as a purely software-based company.

As you may already know, 3CX have earned their popularity in the marketplace by offering a software-based PBX which can be deployed on-premise in virtualised environments like Microsoft Windows Hyper-V, and VMWare. Most recently, the company have developed a Linux edition of their program, which has complete feature parity with their Windows edition. The system can also be launched in the cloud using Google Cloud, OVH, 1 and 1, or Amazon Web Services. In other words, it’s a highly flexible platform.

What’s New for 2017?

There’s a free edition of the solution called “PBX Express“, which allows for up to 8 simultaneous calls at a time, and all the UC apps available are free, making it a highly cost-effective solution. For 2017, 3CX will be offering some exciting new solutions to new and existing partners, including:

  • A new cloud-based portal to simplify system management
  • Real-time and historical call reporting built into the software stack as standard
  • Introduction of PBX Express
  • Free access to 3CX Web Meeting, which makes the 3CX solution even more attractive
  • WebRTC is also built into the package at no additional cost, making the solution market-leading
  • Customers can have a proof of concept edition delivered by 3CX channel partners. This is a full professional edition with features enabled for 30 days. This is a game-changer in the industry

3CX no longer offer a multi-instance version of their system. Instead, all deployments on the latest version are designed to be dedicated for absolute control and reliability. The 3CX market share is now growing quicker than ever, and it’s easy to see why with the disruptive features outlined above. The packaged services that 3CX offer are a testament to the company’s ability to think differently and challenge the conventional ways of doing business, which many vendors are still holding onto.

A Portfolio Update from Alison Tetlow

Alison from Snom took to the stage after Winston, to offer an update about the Snom portfolio. Snom developed the very first open SIP phone two decades ago. The company comes from Berlin, and the products that they produce reflect exceptional German engineering standards, with a high degree of elegance and performance.

Snom solutions work seamlessly with 3CX, and are generally referred to as some of the preferred VoIP phones for 3CX solutions. Alison covered the full range of SIP desktop phones available this year, including wireless phones and accessories. The company have just released the latest Snom D785 VoIP phone, which is their latest model for 2017.

The partner session concluded with Ian Godfrey returning to the stage to talk about how ProVu work with Snom and 3CX to deliver high-quality solutions across the UK.
