Charterhouse has announced its third acquisition in 2021, with a deal for Pentesec set to enhance the build-out of its security operations centre (SOC).

Pentesec is a well-respected Check Point VAR and MSP, and one of just 15 Elite partners globally.

The acquisition comes after Charterhouse revealed the acquisition of two other businesses just a couple of weeks ago.

Mark Brooks-Wadham, CEO at Charterhouse, told UC Today the deal builds on a differentiator that the firm is in the process of creating.

“Within the next six months we’ll have our own, in-house, 24/7 SOC and Pentesec will form the backbone of that,” he said.

“We’ve been looking for the right cyber partner for over a year now and we’ve had lots of conversations”

“We think this is a huge differentiator because if you look at the marketplace at the moment there are lots of good connectivity businesses and collaboration businesses, but very few that also have the level of cybersecurity that we have.”

The chief exec added that the pandemic, along with the move to remote working, has only accelerated the convergence of the collaboration and cybersecurity industries.

“If you are going to have real credibility in the unified comms and collaboration space you need to have a security story,” he added.

“I think by having our internal SOC and bringing in the capabilities of Pentesec we can leap forward in terms of capability.

“I see the convergence of collaboration and security as imperative; they absolutely go hand in hand.”
