Zoom has partnered with AMC Theatres to bring Zoom Rooms to selected AMC locations across the United States of America.
According to AMC, from 2023, theatres in as many as 17 cities across the US will leverage Zoom Rooms technology to connect small, medium and large groups in different locations.
Zoom Rooms at AMC will enable organisations to bring people from different markets together for virtual and in-person events.
Adam Aron, Chairman and CEO of AMC Theatres, commented: “One of the lessons learned during the pandemic when so many of us were forced to work remotely was the importance of a reliable, dynamic communications platform.
“We also learned that even though we may be spread far apart, the ability to come together in person is as important as ever.
“That is why I’m so excited about this AMC partnership with Zoom. So many of us know how vital Zoom is in managing our enterprises.
“Now through this partnership of Zoom and AMC, we have the best of both worlds — the spectacular communications platform of Zoom combined with the comfort, size, scale, and state-of-the-art sight and sound capabilities of AMC’s centrally located theatres.
“This creates an all-new product in major cities across the US for companies and meeting planners.”
Participants can leverage the state-of-the-art sight and sound technology of AMC’s centrally located theatres.
When the partnership officially launches, users can book Zoom Rooms at AMC Theatres online and select their preferred location and meeting time.
All users will receive a three-hour time slot to host their event across multiple markets, with the necessary equipment provided by AMC and Zoom.
Although it is yet to be confirmed, the auditorium sizes for Zoom Rooms at AMC are expected to range between 75 and 150 seats; however, it will depend on specific locations.
Aron added: “AMC has an abundance of attractive theatres at centrally located venues in city after city after city, each with ample seating capacity, especially so during daytime hours on weekdays when most meetings take place.
“Our state-of-the-art sight and sound technology is widely renowned and has made gathering in movie theatres one of the most popular out-of-home entertainment options in the United States.
“Zoom Rooms at AMC broadens our scope, as we now can participate as well in the multi-billion market for corporate and other meetings.”
AMC has stated that there will be additional services for the Zoom Room events, which include food and beverage offerings.
The company has also floated the possibility of movie views and concierge-style personalised handling of meeting needs at an added cost.
At the end of last month, Zoom partnered with Google for embedded bi-directional interoperability between Meet and Rooms devices.
It means that Zoom Rooms users will be able to join Google Meet meetings, and Google Meet devices will be able to join Zoom Meetings.
According to Google, this will be possible directly from a Zoom Room or a Google Meet device calendar “with the touch of a single button” or by entering a meeting code.
The company is also making its platform more accessible by adding a sign language interpretation view for Zoom Meetings and Webinars.
The company is designing the feature to be deployed in most environments, focusing on remote education.
Zoom Meeting and Webinar hosts will be able to arrange for a sign language interpreter in advance, which enables those who need the interpreter to choose one in their preferred language.
