Webex Apple device hybrid working boost

Cisco has unveiled new integrations between its Webex platform and Apple devices to offer more flexibility in hybrid working environments.

The features allow people to use their iPhone for Mobile Camera Share and Continuity Camera.

According to Cisco, the features offer in-office, remote, and hybrid workers the tools they need when working in different environments.

Ahmad Zureiki, Director of Collaboration Business, Cisco Middle East and Africa, commented: "Today, people across the Middle East expect flexibility when it comes to work.

"True hybrid work means being empowered to use your favourite devices to work seamlessly in the office, at home and everywhere in between.

"The latest collaboration solutions from Webex signify another step towards empowering workforces with greater choice and beyond the office."

Mobile Camera Share

The Mobile Camera Share feature allows iPhone and iPad users to share content from the front or rear-facing camera of their device via the Webex Meetings app.

When doing so, users can also annotate what they are sharing at the same time as a way of boosting collaboration.

The feature means that frontline workers can communicate effectively and in real time instead of sending static images or screenshots.

Mobile Camera Share allows other meeting participants to see what is happening as if they were there and note their input onscreen.

Continuity Camera

The Continuity Camera is designed for macOS Ventura, which allows Mac users to use their iPhone as a webcam.

Webex customers can use the iPhone camera to unlock video effects like Portrait Mode, Studio Light and Centre Stage.

Webex also supports Desk View in macOS Ventura, which allows a device to act as an overhead camera without the need for complex hardware.

Desk View allows meeting participants to simultaneously see the user's face and desk.

The feature allows for demonstrations, drawings, video tutorials and more.

Earlier this year, Apple Airplay was integrated into the Webex platform to enable users to wirelessly share content from their Apple devices.

Airplay is accessible via Desk, Room, and Board series, and its security features include a PIN challenge managed by admins to safeguard company data.

Cisco is putting hybrid work at the forefront of its innovations and has recently revealed six new specifications through the company's partner program.

The six new specialisations focus on the biggest market opportunities for Cisco partners, such as hybrid cloud, hybrid work, secure access service edge (SASE), and more.

The design of the solution specialisations showcase partner value to customers and highlight the different types of solutions that partners are selling in today's market.
