NEC Corporation of America has introduced UNIVERGE BLUE AI ASSISTANT, which adds generative AI technology to its UNIVERGE BLUE COMMUNICATIONS PLATFORM.

Powered by UNIVERGE BLUE PULSE, the new AI assistant’s generative AI capabilities enable users to quickly access information and automate repetitive, time-consuming tasks.

The UNIVERGE BLUE AI ASSISTANT is available for free as part of its UNIVERGE CONNECT UCaaS platform, which was launched in 2021 and boasts an expansive offering of over 100 enterprise-level PBX features.

Marc Hebner, Senior Vice President, NEC Corporation of America, commented on the release of its AI assistant: “NEC understands that enhancing productivity and optimizing time is crucial for our customers.

The UNIVERGE BLUE AI Assistant, integrated with the UNIVERGE BLUE PULSE AI engine, is essential for delivering cutting-edge technology in intelligent communications.

“This addition underscores our commitment to ensuring our customers have the best tools available to maximize employee and customer experiences, ultimately contributing to their business success.”

The UNIVERGE BLUE AI Assistant can automate tasks from writing content and code to answering FAQs,  translating text, summarising information, and more.

According to NEC, privacy and security are central to the AI Assistant. To this end, it does not store any information shared by users or any company data in the GenAI engine, nor does it use this information to train the AI engine.

UNIVERGE BLUE PULSE is the centre point of NEC’s AI technology, and it is leveraged throughout its CONNECT and ENGAGE platforms.

BLUE PULSE’s uses also extend to transcription, AI transcription redaction, AI sentiment analysis, reviewing AI transcriptions, AI interaction summaries, notes, action items, and virtual backgrounds.

In a recent post by Adam Uthe, Marketing Manager at NEC, he outlines some of the benefits available to companies via UNIVERGE BLUE PULSE: “Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues to dominate recent headlines, leading to valid questions about its practical uses for business.

“That’s why NEC has created UNIVERGE BLUE PULSE to seamlessly – and responsibly – integrate artificial intelligence within the UNIVERGE BLUE CONNECT and ENGAGE solutions.

“By harnessing the power of Generative AI, Large Language Models, and Natural Language Processing, NEC’s UNIVERGE BLUE PULSE technology is helping businesses both large and small enhance employee collaboration and customer care, protect their IP, and realize greater mobility, efficiency, productivity, and cost savings.”

NEC said in its press release that its AI Assistant is “just the beginning”, as it has already has new features and capabilities in the pipeline.

The company has been busy expanding its Univerge Blue solution this year with new healthcare integrations added in August and a new UCaaS platform, UNIVERGE BLUE CONNECT & ENGAGE. The latter has already improved customer experience and internal communications for Zero Waste Group, an eco-friendly disposal company.

Further positive feedback arrived in April for its NEC UNIVERGE BLUE CONNECT solution, which has reportedly upgraded Eastleigh FC’s communications capabilities and reduced its IT admin and costs by 30 percent.

NEC describes itself as a “leading technology integrator” that offers solutions to improve work and communications. Its portfolio includes solutions for communications, analytics, security, biometrics, and technology to bolster productivity.

NEC Corporation of America is owned by NEC Corporation, which has 284 group companies in over 50 countries and pulls in $25 billion in revenues.
