The Mercedes-AMG F1 team has selected Crestron as a technology partner to deliver the best communications experience possible for race day and beyond.

With the Mercedes-AMG Petronas team often spread worldwide for races, the racing giant needed a solution to provide seamless and natural collaboration.

Mercedes has deployed the Crestron Flex Digital Workplace Platform and Crestron DM NVX® AV-over-IP technology to keep its Operations Center running smoothly with real-time data being reported back on race day.

Steve Riley, Head of IT Operations and Service Management, Mercedes-AMG Petronas, commented: “As an F1 team, people think that we would just be looking for performance, but we chase reliability in equal measure.

“Creston was a natural choice for us because we already know it, and it has always proved very reliable and robust for us.

“Creston technology is central to each of our meeting spaces and our collaboration spaces, like the Silver Arrows Lounge and our debrief room, where we host the post-race debriefs every week.”

According to Crestron, having the right collaboration technology in place is key to bringing the Mercedes team together for a successful race day.

Video collaboration is a vital part of that race day experience, with Creston Flex for Microsoft Teams helping to provide a platform that is consistent and familiar for meetings across the world.

Riley added: “Over the last couple of years, we’ve learned to work in a more agile and hybrid way.

“Now we have people joining calls and meetings from many locations: the meeting room itself, somewhere else in the factory, or from anywhere in the world, like a paddock or a hotel.

Crestron Flex has enabled us to do that seamlessly.”

Mercedes uses Crestron DM NVX AV-over-IP technology to transmit key data and race day coverage to create a complete experience for guests watching from the facility.

Guests at the Operations Center can watch the race and see real-time data as it gets reported back to the Mercedes-AMG team.

“We use Crestron DM NVX here to effectively connect our audio-visual systems to our network, turning the data that’s coming from the car into something that can be easily consumed,” said Riley.
