Microsoft has really been stepping its game up in recent weeks, struggling to keep pace with competitors in a rapidly evolving digital world. In a recent blog, the company announced that some more cost-effective IP phones will soon appear as part of the Microsoft Teams lineup.

These phones, like most of the hardware solutions from Microsoft today, come from leading companies like Poly, AudioCodes and Yealink. As Microsoft MVP, Tom Arbuthnot of Modality Systems, said on his blog, the devices come with high-quality audio and core calling features. However, you should expect physical buttons instead of a touchscreen.

While the Microsoft Teams phones might not look the most advanced, they’re excellent for common work areas and information employee scenarios.

What to Expect from Microsoft Teams Phones

The new and affordable MS Teams phone options come soon after Microsoft announced a variety of updates for the Microsoft Teams software. In the last couple of months, Microsoft has introduced a host of extra features for teams, including virtual backgrounds, and plenty of tools designed to keep people on the same page, such as sharing lists and documents.

The Microsoft Teams affordable IP and USB phones offer easier access to smaller businesses that want to unlock the actual functionality of Microsoft Teams for their teams, but with a limited budget.

The IP phones from Microsoft Teams look like a basic desk phone, complete with a standard handset and dial pad, as well as a screen where you can sort through information. There’s a dedicated Microsoft Teams button on some of the tools.

The USB phones, on the other hand, are intended for people who just want something simple. The USB solution doesn’t come with a dedicated network connection. However, there’s still an easy-to-use dial pad and a Microsoft Teams user interface delivered through a small screen.

Looking Forward to New Phone Opportunities

Microsoft Teams is one of the leading providers of collaboration solutions on the market today. However, Microsoft hasn’t always excelled in providing the business phone experience. Even when Microsoft Business phone services appeared as part of the Teams landscape, many companies remained with their own carrier using direct routing.

The introduction of new IP and USB hardware means that business leaders can take true advantage of the potential Microsoft has to offer as a phone provider. The USB and IP phones available in the range all automatically sync with Microsoft Teams, this ensures a better connection between team members in all environments.

The first IP and USB phones from Microsoft are going to be available towards the end of 2020. The first of these new tools will be the Yealink MP50 USB phone. You can learn more about the upcoming phones from Microsoft themselves, or check out Tom’s blog!
