Market leaders in the team collaboration and productivity landscape, Microsoft, recently announced some upcoming enhancements for the Teams experience. Microsoft Teams users will now have access to a new file sharing experience, recently announced during the Microsoft Ignite conference of 2019. Details on a SharePoint blog introduced updated OneDrive experiences in Teams.

The solution also includes a new option to access OneDrive content within the files tab on Microsoft Teams. The Files tab in Teams will also receive new features powered with SharePoint. This includes a new option to sync your files to your computer and see rich file previews.

The file-sharing experience aims to align the functionality of Teams with all other Microsoft 365 applications, and it starts rolling out mid-August.

New Experiences for Microsoft Teams Users

Designed to make managing documents and content easier, the new file-sharing solution will allow employees to create views and work with meta-data, as well as seeing document lifecycle information, review on-hover cards, and more. When the feature is available to everyone by around mid-September, Teams users will be able to create shareable links for any files in Teams.

They’ll also be able to configure the appropriate permission directly in the message box for Microsoft Teams. With the new update, users will also have access to new licenses for files stored in OneDrive or SharePoint, when starting a private chat or channel conversation.

Microsoft also announced a new addition to the Teams experience in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center. This update will change the default policy setting for inline message translation in Teams as of August. Message translation will now be switched on by default for all users if administrators haven’t already taken steps to adjust the messaging policy.

Easier Collaboration with Microsoft Teams

The arrival of the new file-sharing experience, and the inline translation default setting will help Microsoft Teams users to collaborate more naturally in any environment. Employees will be able to translate chat and channel messages instantly, just by clicking Translate in the message actions menu. Plus, sharing and managing files will be easier than ever.

This is just the latest in a consistent stream of updates to the Microsoft Teams platform. The company is constantly developing new ways to improve Microsoft Teams conversations and connect Microsoft Teams to the rest of the 365 productivity suite.
