If you’ve ever wanted an easier way to rearrange how you see your video conferencing pals in a Zoom meeting, you’re in luck. Zoom has long stood out as one of the more appealing choices for video conferencing in the modern landscape. Today, Zoom is quickly becoming synonymous with the video meeting, and it’s constantly staying ahead of the curve with new features and technology.
For instance, long before Microsoft Teams and other collaboration tool providers started introducing multi-person grid views, Zoom was already way ahead of the game. Zoom currently provides access to up to 49 thumbnails per page in Gallery view. Microsoft Teams gallery view recently began previewing the same feature, but this is old news to Zoom.
The only problem? Organising all of those videos exactly how you like them.
Making the Most of your Gallery Grid
Depending on how you use your Zoom gallery grid mode, you might prefer to have the people you look at most in the centre of your screen, or your most important contacts at the top. So, how do you move everyone into the right position?
Well, for a while now, customers have been asking for Zoom to introduce a drag-and-drop functionality for reordering meeting participants. Fortunately for fans, Zoom has a habit of listening to its community. Recently, the company announced on Twitter that you can now reorder the videos in your gallery view just by dragging and dropping them. Even when someone leaves or enters the room, you get to keep your participants in the order that you want them in.
This is just one of the many little ways that Zoom keeps working to make video meetings more immersive and intuitive for its customers.
Of course, if you ever get sick of Gallery view, you can always experiment with the other methods Zoom offers for video layout. For instance, there’s Active Speaker view and Full-screen mode too. There’s also floating thumbnail windows and side-by-side modes for when people are sharing screens.
