TeamViewer has expanded its portfolio of employee experience services in acquiring 1E.
TeamViewer, a remote connectivity and digital workplace solution provider, has announced an agreement to acquire 1E, a London-based digital employee experience (DEX) management tool business, from Carlyle Europe Technology Partners, part of global investment firm Carlyle, in a deal valued at $720 million.
TeamViewer suggests the move positions it as a key player in the digital workplace market by combining its expertise in remote access and support with 1E’s autonomous IT platform. The integration aims to enhance customer benefits by proactively preventing IT issues and delivering efficient remote support to address them.
“With the acquisition of 1E, TeamViewer will enter a new era of intelligent endpoint management by providing customers with a smart solution for preventing and tackling technology issues with minimal friction,” said Oliver Steil, CEO of TeamViewer.
Together with 1E, we are ideally positioned to meet growing customer demands for more real-time, automated, and proactive approaches in the IT and the OT space. TeamViewer’s largest acquisition to date marks an important step forward to accelerate enterprise growth, drive innovation and deliver greater value to our customers. We are excited to work with Mark, Stephen and the fantastic 1E team.”
TeamViewer says that its integration with 1E will create an industry-leading solution for IT operations, intelligent endpoint management, and an improved user experience in the digital workplace. This solution will offer a comprehensive, one-stop shop for modern IT needs.
As part of the 1E acquisition, TeamViewer will expand its leadership team. Mark Banfield, CEO of 1E, will join as Chief Commercial Officer, and Stephen Tarleton, 1E’s CMO, will become Chief Marketing Officer. Additionally, Mei Dent, Chief Product and Technology Officer, has received a three-year contract extension to advance TeamViewer’s product and R&D strategy.
These changes align with TeamViewer’s and 1E’s strategies. Both companies outline the focus on growth and innovation in intelligent endpoint management and the digital workplace, leveraging 1E’s expertise to enhance capabilities.
Pending regulatory approvals, the acquisition is expected to close in early 2025.
More Information On The Acquisition
TeamViewer emphasises the acquisition of 1E brings major benefits, particularly in innovation and AI development. By integrating 1E’s DEX capabilities, TeamViewer can boost visibility across IT environments, refine remediation, and accelerate toward autonomous endpoint management. The company adds that it builds on its AI-powered “Session Insights” feature, which it says solidifies its position in the digital workplace space.
TeamViewer will also expand its reach in the growing DEX market, which is expected to grow at double-digit rates. It expects this move to increase its total addressable market to a multi-billion-euro opportunity while opening potential in the Operational Technology (OT) sector.
With 1E’s customer base, including Nike and Novartis, TeamViewer aims to deliver enhanced solutions to global clients like Airbus and Coca-Cola while tapping into new opportunities with SMB customers. Additionally, the acquisition strengthens TeamViewer’s presence in North America and enables expansion into EMEA and APAC, driving global growth and revenue synergies.
“1E’s driving mission is to create innovative IT solutions that shape the future of work,” added Banfield. “Together with TeamViewer, we can accelerate that mission by integrating our DEX platform with world-class connectivity solutions.
“As two companies with truly complementary products and technologies, TeamViewer is the ideal partner to help us scale our offerings and create an intelligent endpoint management leader. I’m excited to join TeamViewer’s management board as we enter this next chapter of our joint growth story, and I would like to thank the team at Carlyle who have supported us on our journey so far.”
