Zoom‘s investment arm, Ventures, has confirmed a significant investment in the healthcare AI business Suki, progressing the collaboration giant’s ambitions to develop a Workplace for Clinicians.

The investment expands upon Zoom and AI healthcare collaboration business Suki’s partnership, which was announced in October. The partnership entails the integration of AI-driven clinical notes into Zoom’s Workplace for Clinicians offering, which is tailored to improving user experience and patient care.

Suki will join Zoom Ventures’ growing AI investment portfolio, which includes AI companies like Anthropic and CoreWeave. Following its $70 million Series D funding round announced in October, Suki has raised a total of $168 million to date.

“We are excited to deepen our partnership with Suki with this investment. Suki’s turnkey solutions enable health systems to seamlessly adopt AI-powered tools to improve productivity and healthcare outcomes,” said Ricardo Anzaldua, Head of Corporate Development and Zoom Ventures.

This technology helps power Zoom’s healthcare offerings and aligns with our mission of leveraging AI to drive employee productivity and enhance patient experiences. Suki’s exceptional growth and widespread adoption within healthcare systems highlights the tremendous value their solutions bring to the healthcare industry.”

Zoom isn’t the only collaboration colossus Suki has partnered with recently as it continues to expand at an accelerated rate. Last month, the company unveiled a partnership with Google, which Suki says further establishes it as the industry’s first end-to-end clinical AI assistant.

By utilising Google Cloud’s Vertex AI platform, Suki introduced new features, such as patient summaries and Q&A, to accelerate the clinical decision-making process and alleviate information overload for clinicians.

“In 2024, Suki experienced remarkable growth, expanding 4x in only 12 months,” added Punit Soni, CEO and Founder of Suki. “This next phase is driven by our latest investments and the expanding opportunities within our addressable market, with technology leaders like Zoom seeking new ways of collaborating with us. Our shared values and goals have enabled us to revolutionise the healthcare experience for clinicians and patients nationwide with AI.”

“This new capital allows us to scale our technology, offering new capabilities to our customers, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to expand the strong team we’ve built over the last seven years.”

More Details On Zoom And Suki’s Partnership

Zoom is partnering with Suki to leverage its AI-powered platform, Suki Platform, to automate the creation of clinical notes and introduce advanced AI features into Zoom’s healthcare solutions, namely Zoom Workplace For Clinicians.

Zoom and Suki stress that the integration is designed to streamline workflows, enhance the user experience, and ultimately improve patient care outcomes. The Suki Platform enables organisations of all sizes to rapidly develop sophisticated AI tools with minimal technical expertise. By powering ambient clinical documentation, Suki plans to enhance Zoom’s telehealth and in-person visits.

With nearly one million clinicians across the US already benefiting from its capabilities, the platform is well-positioned to significantly impact the healthcare industry.

“With over almost 140,000 healthcare institutions globally using the Zoom platform, we feel a great responsibility to leverage the power of AI to drive employee productivity and enhance patient experiences,” said Smita Hashim, Chief Product Officer at Zoom. “Working together with Suki to provide critical AI-generated clinical note functionality to Zoom Workplace for Clinicians will reduce documentation overhead for clinicians, allowing them to focus on patients.”

In autumn, Zoom announced that Zoom Workplace for Healthcare would be launched in Q4 of FY25. Additionally, Zoom plans to release Zoom Workplace for Clinicians and a custom AI Companion for Healthcare add-on in the first half of 2025.

The AI Companion will offer healthcare-specific customisations, including a healthcare glossary for meeting summaries and in-meeting queries, access to extended information from trusted data sources like EHRs, and personal coaching features. These enhancements aim to boost the effectiveness and efficiency of healthcare professionals.

Zoom’s Start To 2025 So Far

Zoom and Alvaria have partnered to bolster contact centre customer experience and compliance.

The partnership aims to strengthen Zoom’s UC and collaboration portfolio by integrating Alvaria’s compliance-driven contact centre software. This collaboration seeks to provide contact centres with advanced tools to enhance customer engagement and optimise operational efficiency.

Earlier this month, Zoom introduced updates to its Team Chat, featuring a redesigned sidebar designed to enhance user experience and boost productivity. The updates leverage AI tools and customisation options, enabling users to streamline communication, personalise their workspace, and complete time-saving admin tasks more efficiently.

With Zoom Team Chat, you can do cross-product work and be more productive with Zoom Workplace’s AI-first products like Zoom Docs, Zoom Meetings, and Zoom Whiteboard,” said Smita Hashim, Chief Product Officer of Zoom. “Our new Team Chat sidebar design takes this to the next level by empowering users to collaborate smarter and customise their workspace to fit their preferred workflow.”

Meanwhile, Zoom reportedly kicked off the year by planting a flag in Microsoft‘s back garden by signing the lease for a new office in Bellevue, Washington.

According to a recent report by real estate firm Broderick Group, Zoom has signed a lease for 19,085 square feet at the Symetra Center, a prominent 25-story office tower in Bellevue. This new office location strategically positions Zoom near Microsoft’s headquarters in Redmond, with Google also maintaining a significant presence in the greater Seattle area.
