Leading communications provider, Avaya recently revealed their collaboration with the largest London barrister chambers, Garden Court Chambers. The chambers needed a way to enhance and improve communication and collaboration for admin, clerical, and barrister staff in the new digital workplace. Installing Avaya OneCloud as their UCaaS platform with the help of Fortay Connect allowed Garden Court Chambers to migrate 275 users in record time.
Communications in the chambers are now better than ever, with flexible, always-on video conferencing, workstream collaboration, and tools to support anywhere work. The new communication strategy will allow the Garden Court Chambers to provide better service to those calling for legal advice, while keeping legal team members productive.
A Huge Improvement to Communications
The previous Garden Court Chambers communications system had traditional phones for each barrister’s desk, with calls transferred through a switchboard. This created some limitations in working and require da receptionist to be on-site to handle the switchboard. Barristers struggled to fulfil their business needs, and requests for licenses to access video conferencing were becoming more common.
Additionally, transferring calls between mobiles was often a complex process, with call forwarding only possible through IT administration help. According to the IT Systems Project Manager for the Chambers, Dan Bunce, Barrister work is often unpredictable, requiring them to be available at all times. These professionals require a digital workspace without departmental silos and with constant access to information from any location.
Avaya Cloud Office gives Garden Court Chambers a single number for video, calls, chat, file sharing, and collaboration, which they can use wherever they are. Barristers now have the freedom to manage their own communication requirements, without relying on reception and IT staff.
Fortay Connect worked as an advisor to the Chambers and was able to provide insight and guidance in the evaluation process as the company looked for a new communication system. Avaya OneCloud was the solution of choice thanks to straightforward billing, ease of use, and call analytics.
Creating a New Communications System
Dan Bunce noted that he wanted the opportunity to investigate video and sound issues with analytics and simple billing to minimise financial stress. Avaya’s solution offered call analytics, transparent pricing, and a predictable monthly bill. Additionally, the speed of deployment with Fortay Connect and Avaya meant that the group could minimise lost working days.
Managing Director for UK and Ireland at Avaya, Steve Joyner said it was great to see the Chambers empower the staff with Avaya technology, so that everyone can move forward into a collaborative, dynamic new world, with a communications tech platform that supports the often-unplanned nature of the profession. Barristers will now have a reliable, secure, and convenient solution for workstream collaboration. The result should be better experiences for everyone.
Avaya OneCloud transforms video meeting and collaboration experiences to help businesses from all backgrounds meet the challenges of an unpredictable environment.
