Google has announced that users with Workspace Business, Enterprise, or Frontline plans will be able to access Gemini.
As a result, the AI-powered assistant can now be leveraged by ‘millions’ of Workspace users.
Google Workspace shared its internal company analysis of pilot surveys from 18 enterprises around the world, which demonstrated that users saved an average of 105 minutes per week and that 75 percent reported that it had enhanced the quality of their work.
Google revealed the news through its Workspace blog, along with a reassurance relating to data security:
Workspace customers can access the benefits of AI, while knowing that their organisation’s privacy, security, and compliance policies will be upheld.”
“Through the admin console, customers will have choice and control over how the Gemini app handles user prompt and generated response retention, while having our assurance that Gemini does not use your organisation’s data, user prompts, or generated responses to train or improve Gemini models.”
Security and Data Upgrade
The cloud-based collaboration and productivity tool platform Google Workspace, formerly G-Suite, continued to allay security concerns as it introduced the latest security updates to the platform: a new security advisor.
The new “personal security expert” can provide business insights, actionable guidance, data protection controls, and recommendations for stronger organisational security.
Google says it will start rolling out the security advisor to all Workspace Business edition customers over the next few weeks.
New Gemini Certifications
That’s not all. Google has also taken the opportunity to introduce its latest set of industry certifications for Gemini for Workspace.
It claims that Gemini is “one of the first” to receive an industry certification, following its work earlier this year to support HIPAA workloads: “In the era of generative AI, our commitments to data privacy, confidentiality, and security remain core to our product design.”
Today, we’re announcing that Gemini for Workspace is one of the first generative AI solutions to be certified according to industry security and privacy standards such as SOC 1/2/3, ISO 27001, and ISO 27701.”
“With Gemini, you’re getting an enterprise-grade AI-powered assistant that can help you meet your compliance requirements today — something unavailable with similar solutions in the market.”
Gemini for Workspace is available to businesses of all sizes that want to take advantage of the benefits generative AI can provide.
In June, Google Workspace apps and Gmail were upgraded with new Gemini features, including the AI-powered productivity assistant’s addition to the services’ side panels.
The side panel incorporate Google’s most sophisticated models, such as its Gemini 1.5 Pro model, which offers an extended context window and enhanced reasoning capabilities.
This followed a long list of updates that came out of Google I/O in May, centring around Google’s evolving software (such as the Workspace suite), generative AI, and the Gemini large language models.
New Gemini features include the ability to upload files from your device or Google Drive to Gemini Advanced, data analysis via Gemini for uploaded files and spreadsheets, an advanced planning feature for travellers powered by Gemini, and the option to simultaneously chat with the bot while also messaging friends.
