The Savoy Hotel in London was the location for Nuvias UC’s TechTalks event which took place back in July. The event gathered Nuvias UC’s partner community together for a day of unified communications technological innovation and discussion. The day consisted of a TechSummit, providing the attendees with thought provoking content from some of the UC industries’ leading minds, as well as a full exhibition with Nuvias UC’s vendor partners showcasing their most cutting edge solutions.

UC Today attended TechTalks to bring you all of the news and interviews.

2019’s TechTalks is the second annual iteration of the event and allowed Nuvias UC to update those in attendance on its technical roadmap, vendor partnerships and technology strategy. Some of the most prevalent topics were around Microsoft Teams, with a focused technical seminar and panel session discussing the opportunities available to reseller and service provider partners that are enabled by the collaboration platform. Nuvias UC also utilised the event to expand more on its provision of emerging technologies such as session border controllers, SBCs, which represent an aspect of the next generation of security and management systems for UC networks.

First up Steve Harris, CEO of Nuvias UC joins Patrick to explain more about the TechTalks event. Steve tells Patrick that TechTalks provides Nuvias UC with an opportunity to gather its partner community together to outline its latest strategies for the market. As well as allowing Nuvias UC to tell partners more about its own plans TechTalks also brings Nuvias UC’s vendor partners to the event so that they can demonstrate their most innovative solutions to the resellers and service providers in attendance.

“We get the chance to share ideas, share disruptive new services and new technologies to really help our partners look at new services that they can deliver to their channels, or through to end users, that will deliver more revenues for them in the future.”

Nuvias UC’s Technical Director, Rob Smith, is next up to speak to Patrick. Rob tells Patrick about some of the key partnerships that underpin Nuvias UC’s provision of services to reseller and channel partners. Nuvias approach the distribution model from a different angle and provide a range of next generation services across the spectrum from high end consultancy, and professional, services through to logistics.

Rob explains that Nuvias differ from traditional distributors by placing an emphasis on software development and automation. By helping channel partners to simplify business processes Nuvias are able to offer increased revenue and margin amplification.

“We have a very unique offering to the market – The idea is to make it easier for them (channel partners) to move into the world of ecommerce.”

After working in partnership with Nuvias for number of years, Glynn Jones has now joined Nuvias UC as VP for Sales. He tells to Patrick why the opportunity to join the Nuvias UC team was too good to miss.

Finally we hear from some of Nuvias UC’s vendor partners who were exhibiting during the TechTalks event. Patrick is joined initially by Nicole Dinnadge, EMEA Channel Director at BlueJeans, to tell us more about BlueJean’s latest service launch, and its attendance at this year’s TechTalks. BlueJeans have partnered with Dolby to launch ‘Rooms-as-a-service’. The solution will allow customers to consume meeting room solutions, including BlueJeans licenses and Dolby Voice Room hardware, as a subscription service. Nicole explains that more and more organisations want to be able to leverage consumption based purchasing models and now with their latest offering BlueJeans and Dolby can offer a whole new range of meeting room solutions within a cost effective and easy to purchase model.

Lastly Patrick speaks to Sarah Turker who is a Senior Channel Manager at Cisco. Cisco is one of Nuvias UC’s most valuable partners providing a full stack of communication solutions. Sarah explains why Cisco’s offering can provide such benefits to channel partners and how its relationship with Nuvias UC only further enhances the proposition. Cisco can now provide solutions in all aspects of the stack from the overarching communication or collaboration software right down to endpoints including phones, and now headsets.
