2018 has launched with a bang in the UC space. The acquisitions, collaborations, and consolidations that we saw in 2017 have continued into the new year, with more companies across the space looking to enhance and expand their product offerings. The privately-owned unified communications company, Elite Telecom recently announced that they had agreed on a number on their new purchase of βSupport Span Groupβ who also trade as βHighSpanβ.
Support Span delivers specialist telephony systems to customers, and benefits from a background in converged data and voice networks, along with IP telephony and nationwide maintenance and support services. This marks the 16th acquisition for Elite since 2008.
Why the New Acquisition?

Over the years, Elitetele.com have been dedicated to delivering their clients an ever-growing array of exceptional quality supported systems for telephone communications. In 2017, the group won a collection of new contracts for support, which highlight its current potential for growth. According to the founder of Elitetele.com, Matt Newing, the newest purchase makes perfect sense, considering their in-depth understanding of the marketplace, and the expertise they have to offer.
Support Span has already been a business partner for Elite for several years now, which means that thereβs a pre-existing relationship between both companies. Newing noted that the background between the organisations means that Elite understands how Support Span works, and exactly how much potential their skillset and expertise can bring to the current environment.
Newing went on to say that the acquisition of Support Span ensures that Elite can connect with a highly experienced and sought-after engineering team, perfect for boosting their support solutions. Additionally, theyβre also gaining access to contract and account managers who are consistently involved with maintenance and telephony systems.
Taking the Relationship to the Next Level

For both Support Span and Elitetele.com, the acquisition is about taking the relationship between the companies a step further. The founding and managing director of Support Span, Rick Pearce acknowledged that the company has worked seamlessly alongside Elite for several years now. He noted that it only makes sense to speak to Elite when they first considered selling the company.
Interestingly, the newly-formed collaborative group will be in the perfect position to qualify for βgold accreditationβ status with Mitel, which will mean that they can deliver a more competitive portfolio to their customers. Once the deal is successfully completed, the new Elite group will feature more than 180 members of staff across 7 locations, with support span contributing another 13 members of staff.
Although itβs hard to say who Elite will set their sights on next, itβs worth noting that theyβre not planning on slowing their acquisition road-map anytime soon. In a world where itβs becoming increasingly difficult for companies to continue competing in a saturated UC space, Elite have made the conscious decision to grow their group through both organic means and acquisitions.
