With its headquarters in Malaysia, Jibble (officially the Jibble Group) is an HR technology company that began in 2016.

The Jibble time tracking software is the company’s flagship product, and it also offers a cloud-based payroll tool called PayrollPanda. Jibble is as a free time clock tool — one of the few fully functional time-tracking software solutions available in a free forever model for unlimited users. Jibble integrates with popular collaboration platforms like Slack and Microsoft Teams to help users punch in and track time even as they engage in communication and collaboration.

While users can use Jibble for free, the tool also has two paid editions at $2 and $4 per user per month, respectively. This gets users more advanced capabilities like custom individual permissions, custom leave policies, project/client-based time tracking, and more. Jibble is intended primarily for small to mid-sized businesses with anywhere between 2 and 100+ employees.

Jibble launched its Teams integration in 2017, using the Microsoft Teams collaboration hub as a window into employee availability, productivity, and hours utilisation. We’d like to review its features in more detail.

Inside Jibble for Microsoft Teams

Employers can start using Jibble for Microsoft Teams immediately without requiring a paid subscription. However, we recommend they get the Ultimate version of Jibble to unlock its true potential for Teams users. This will also contact employers to shift management and project/client-based time tracking for directly linking employee hours with business outcomes.

To install Jibble, open the Jibble app and enable Microsoft Teams from the list of integrations. Users can install the app from Microsoft AppSource. This allows them to start using the following features:

  • The Jibble bot for employees: All users added to Jibble either via the web app or from Microsoft Teams through the Invite command will be able to use the Jibble bot. Employees can use several interactions to interact with the bot — for instance, employees can type IN or OUT at the beginning and end of every workday.
  • Detailed activity records: Using Jibble, employers can capture detailed records of employee activity. Once the user types IN and clocks in using the bot, they will get a response asking, “Which Activity?” The bot even presents them with popular activity options across the organisation, and users can click on the activity they want to register for.
  • We formerly timesheets: Employees can access their weekly timesheets on Jibble using the bot on Microsoft Teams. Type in the TIMES command, and Jibble will tell employers weekly times for a specific duration and calculate the total number of hours clocked during that particular week.
  • Co-worker availability check: The bot has a unique feature that lets employers check who works on which given day. They can use the ALL command to get a list of all users in their organisation, explicitly mentioning who clocks in, their activity, who is yet to clock in, and when they last clocked out. If users want more specific information, type ALL IN or ALL OUT to get the relevant details.
  • Mobile optimisation: The Jibble app for Microsoft Teams is optimised for mobile usage. This means that employees can clock in without opening their desktop or the desktop version of Teams. For example, if someone begins a workday with a telephonic conversation with a client, they can open Jibble on the Teams mobile app and clock in.
  • Client-based hours clocking: As mentioned, the premium version of Jibble provides highly advanced features that can help map employee time with project outcomes. A specific client or project is configurable as an activity, and employees choose that activity when they clock in.
  • Two-way synchronisation from Jibble: Employee time records are synchronised everywhere employees use Jibble. If one employee clocks in from a kiosk tablet at a physical office or store, their colleagues can view their availability right from the Teams platform.

Why the Jibble App Makes a Difference

The free version of Jibble is among the best in the industry. Employers get all the crucial features (barring, say, custom rules, geofencing, etc.), and they can enjoy the convenience of adding unlimited users through Teams.

What We Think

Companies looking to make Teams their centralised hub for all internal communication, including HR-related activities, should try the Jibble app, available to download here.
