While Wooclap began life as a student engagement and learning enablement platform, it has also found a surprising amount of traction among corporates. Using Wooclap for Microsoft Teams could make a massive difference in how users conduct meetings, engage with an audience, and disseminate information, mainly when working remotely.

Wooclap started in 2014-15 with two engineers based out of Belgium. They wanted to convert the smartphone from an element of distraction during classes into an interactivity aid, increasing students’ retention and comprehension. The team worked with neuroscientists, learning technologists and teachers.

At its core, Wooclap is an in-meeting audience engagement tool. Even as hosts conduct significant events or video calls via Microsoft Teams, users can ask audience/meeting participants to share their thoughts via Wooclap quickly. Initially, its original purpose was as a learning aid — for instance, to help professors engage with higher-ed students during lectures. But it also has plenty of use cases for WFH companies, enabling in-meeting polls and driving collective productivity.

Enterprise owners can install Wooclap from the Microsoft Teams app store. They should ensure that the administrator has all the third-party app permissions turned on so they can access all of Wooclap’s features and functionalities.

Here’s what users can expect with Wooclap on Teams:

  • New Wooclap events/sessions: When users open the Wooclap app, they will be prompted to create a new event or add Wooclap to an existing one. They make a new event and schedule a recent Microsoft Teams meeting with a corresponding Wooclap questionnaire. Interestingly, participants will be able to access the questionnaire even before the meeting — but more on that later.
  • Add Wooclap to an existing meeting: Users can add Wooclap to a recent meeting. In that case, a dropdown list of the current events on their Microsoft Teams calendar will appear, and users can choose where to conduct a Wooclap session.
  • Live voting interface for meeting participants: Once hosts initiate the meeting, meeting participants can navigate to the Wooclap icon on the top menu bar and open the app on the right pane. This will allow participants to view and answer the questions hosts have already configured.
  • Moderator interface: Even as meeting participants share their responses, they can monitor their progress from the moderator interface. Wooclap also allows users to share the results via the screen sharing option in Teams meetings so that users can inform meeting participants about everyone’s response.
  • Standby screen: If users have added the Wooclap tab to an event without configuring a questionnaire, the standby screen is displayed by default.
  • Asynchronous questionnaires: As mentioned before, meeting participants can access the questionnaire and share their inputs asynchronously — even before the meeting begins. This feature is accessible when users open the expanded view of an event from their Teams calendar and click on the Wooclap tab.
  • Advanced configurations: As a moderator, users can configure Wooclap settings per their precise needs from the Wooclap event. Users can open the event from their Teams calendar and check the configuration is according to the meeting requirements.
  • A variety of interaction options: This is the flagship capability enabled by Wooclap. Enterprise owners can design a questionnaire or event in various ways to drive maximum engagement. For example, they can ask multiple-choice questions, conduct a poll, generate word clouds, ask attendees to fill in the blanks, rate an item, and much more.

Why the Wooclap App Makes a Difference

A massive differentiator when using Wooclap is its ability to export results as Excel sheets or PDF files. This helps owners record changes in audience engagement so they can improve the content quality over time.
