What has been your business/work highlight of 2024 so far?
The highlight of work so far this year was speaking at and attending Enterprise Connect. Gathering with colleagues and friends, hearing about how new technologies are benefitting organizations, and generally having fun. Didn’t get to go down the pool slide this year, though.
Who is your business hero and why?
Taylor Swift-what a great example of putting business principals to work, ignoring the haters, and keeping focus on the ultimate objective.
What’s the biggest business mistake you’ve made and what did you learn from it?
It’s important to think strategically about business partners. Understanding your own strengths and looking for trusted partners who can add value and are a good cultural fit.
What’s the most inspirational book you’ve ever read and why?
It’s hard to pick just one, but in 2023 I read AI 2041 by Kai-Fu Lee and Chen Quifan. It is blend of storytelling and scientific forecasting by a Sci Fi writer and an AI expert. Imagining in detail how will artificial intelligence will realistically change our world in 20 years inspired me to fully embrace AI initiatives.
What’s the biggest challenge you face in your role in 2024?
Like everyone, I suppose, being bombarded every minute with a plethora of communication channels, all demanding my time. Determining how to prioritise my time, the most valuable asset, on things that have the most impact.
What technology will have the greatest impact on your business this year and why?
Hopefully one of those ai tools that helps organise, summarise and prioritise your communication channels.
