Zoom has launched its AI-powered task and project management capability, Zoom Tasks, to supercharge business productivity.
As part of Zoom Workplace, Zoom Tasks can automatically identify action items from users’ meeting summaries and chat conversations throughout the day. It can even assist in completing tasks on a user’s behalf, with their review and approval. This feature ensures teams have the necessary information to stay organised, improving collaboration and ensuring better project follow-through.
Robin Bunevich, Product Marketing Manager at Zoom AI, wrote in an announcement blog:
Now, you don’t have to go far to manage your tasks. Zoom Tasks is our new, AI-first task management solution built right into Zoom Workplace, with AI Companion helping you get through your to-do list faster.”
Zoom is keen to stress the potentially game-changing impact of agentic AI on project and task management. Zoom asserts that AI Companion automatically identifies action items from users’ meetings (and soon, from emails and chats), ensuring they never miss a task. By consolidating everything into one tab, it reduces clutter and lets users review, accept, and delegate tasks.
Zoom adds that AI Companion goes further by helping users complete tasks. It suggests the next step, whether scheduling a meeting, drafting a document, or sending a message, and prompts users to take action.
Zoom Tasks with AI Companion is included with eligible paid Zoom Workplace plans.
More Information on Zoom Tasks
Zoom says that AI Companion helps users stay on top of tasks, making their workday more efficient. During back-to-back meetings, it tracks action items so users don’t have to. At the end of the day, users only have to check their Tasks tab for everything assigned to them.
When asked for status updates, AI Companion quickly compiles users’ tasks and drafts a response, saving them time. If a user has too many tasks, Zoom outlines that AI Companion summarises your messages, identifies action items, and suggests the next steps. It even drafts responses, helping users save time on research and brainstorming while ensuring their message is clear and compelling.
Once an admin or user enables Tasks in Zoom Workplace, they can start tracking and managing their tasks. At the end of their day or after meetings, users can check the “Recommended Tasks” section to review what’s been assigned to them and click “Accept” to add them to their My Tasks list.
For suggested actions on a task, users can click the AI Companion star icon within the task. They can also right-click on items in Team Chat or email to add them to their task list, so they don’t have to leave chats marked as unread.
Manual tasks can be added by clicking the + button, and “View details” provides more information, including links to task sources. Even without AI Companion, Zoom affirms that Tasks offers a streamlined way to manage all a user’s to-dos in one place.
Zoom Launches Workvivo AI to Enhance the Employee Experience
