Global software leader in secure cloud communications, Ribbon Communications, recently announced a new partnership with Bandwidth Inc. Bandwidth is a software company concentrating on delivering enhanced communication tools to the enterprise. The two brands are banding together to provide real-time emergency 911 calling to Microsoft Teams users in the Direct Routing environment.

Microsoft Teams is quickly becoming one of the world’s most popular communications and collaborations platform. The new offering from Bandwidth and Ribbon is built on top of the Office 365 subscription suite and features extensions to integrate with products outside of the Microsoft portfolio too.

Driving New Solutions for Microsoft Teams

Ribbon and Bandwidth are working together to make Microsoft Teams an even more exciting solution for today’s workers. Ribbon is one of only a few vendors who has had its Session Border Controllers certified officially for Microsoft by the Microsoft Teams Direct Routing initiative. The Direct Routing service connects the public switched telephony network systems and endpoints to calling strategies for Microsoft Teams, integrating voice services, and boosting security.

The Bandwidth E911 real-time dynamic location technology routes 911 calls based on the location of callers. Bandwidth’s 911 experts have developed the new offering to work alongside the Microsoft certified SBCs from Ribbon for dynamic emergency calling in Microsoft Teams Direct Routing.

According to Bandwidth’s Vice President for Product Strategy, Lydia Runnels, as enterprises continue to move into the cloud, 911 conversations can be a challenge. The current workforce is now more distributed and mobile than ever. Although this flexible environment provides more opportunities for growth, it also makes it hard to track the location of a caller during an emergency. The Bandwidth and Ribbon collaboration will help to overcome this solution.

Supporting Microsoft Teams Users

Patrick-JoggerstThe latest E911 innovation for Microsoft Teams means that enterprises using Ribbon SBCs that have chosen the direct routing voice solution will be able to ensure that their 911 calls are routed accurately and quickly based on things like real-time caller location. As well as creating a safer workforce, this technology will help enterprises to meet existing and new regulations too.

Bandwidth is a valuable and long-standing customer of Ribbon, and according to Patrick Joggerst, the CMO of Ribbon, the company is thrilled to be partnering with Bandwidth on this new project. Together, the two companies will be able to bring essential E911 abilities to one of the fastest-growing platforms for unified communication and collaboration in the world. The latest connection with Bandwidth is sure to enhance Ribbon’s position as an SBC market leader.
