Zoom has unveiled a swathe of new agentic AI Companion innovations to elevate productivity and collaboration.

Zoom is enhancing its AI Companion capabilities across its entire platform, including Zoom Meetings, Zoom Team Chat, Zoom Docs, Zoom Phone, Zoom Whiteboard, Zoom Contact Center, and industry-specific solutions. These advancements introduce new AI agentic skills, agents, and models designed to deliver high-quality outcomes, boost productivity, and foster stronger user relationships.

Smita Hashim, Chief Product Officer at Zoom, commented:

AI Companion is evolving from a personal assistant to being truly agentic, which signals a major leap forward in how AI can enhance productivity and collaboration at work.  We’re delivering value for our customers through AI agents and agentic skills that solve real customer problems, helping them connect, collaborate, and get more done, all within the Zoom platform our users trust and love.”

Zoom’s AI Companion is advancing to manage complex, multi-step tasks using reasoning, memory, and orchestration to make decisions, solve problems, and complete actions efficiently.

New skills include calendar management for easier scheduling, clip generation for quick video creation, and advanced writing assistance to streamline document development.

Zoom AI Companion will still be included at no extra cost for customers with paid services as part of their Zoom user accounts.

More Information on the New Agentic AI Features For Collaboration

Zoom outlines that Tasks will automatically detect and manage action items from meeting summaries, chats, and emails, completing tasks like scheduling follow-ups or generating documents. Tasks can be tracked in a new Zoom Workplace tab or embedded into Zoom Docs. The launch is expected by the end of March.

Meeting Agendas will launch in May, offering templates and content recommendations based on recent agendas. Hosts can add timers to agenda sections, receive AI-generated live notes during meetings, and share summaries and action items afterwards. Live Notes for Meetings and Phone will also launch in May. It will provide real-time summaries to help participants stay on track, follow the agenda, and track updates live.

AI Companion for Zoom Phone now offers voicemail summaries and supports Zoom within Microsoft Teams, enabling AI-generated call summaries and task prioritisation from voicemails. A new voice recorder for the Zoom Workplace mobile app, expected in late March, will transcribe, summarise, and capture action items from in-person conversations, aiming to eliminate the need for manual note-taking.

AI Companion for Workspace Reservation, launching in May, will help in-office workers by showing when colleagues plan to be onsite, recommending office days based on meeting schedules, and proactively booking desks or Zoom Rooms.

Compelling Zoom Agentic AI Features to Boost Productivity

Zoom Docs seeks to enhance content creation with AI Companion writing assistance and advanced search capabilities, helping users maximise productivity and streamline workflows.

Launching in June, enhanced AI Companion features will support advanced references and queries, enabling users to create writing plans, search internal and external sources for relevant information, and compile high-quality business documents based on user instructions.

In July, AI Companion will also enable automatically creating data tables, including meeting summaries. It will label columns, highlight key points, and automate categorisation and summarisation to improve content organisation and readability.

Additionally, Zoom Drive, launching in May, will serve as a central repository for meeting and productivity assets, including Zoom Docs, making accessing and managing content across Zoom Workplace easier.

An Update on Zoom’s Custom AI Companion

The Custom AI Companion add-on will enable organisations to tailor AI Companion using AI Studio, addressing unique needs and driving efficiency. Zoom affirms that organisations can create custom meeting templates and dictionaries with industry-specific vocabulary and integrate data from third-party apps. AI Studio will also expand AI Companion’s knowledge and skills, enhancing decision-making and task completion.

Additionally, users will gain access to a digital personal AI coach and custom meeting summary templates for specific use cases, such as one-on-one meetings, customer intake, or brainstorming. Custom Avatars for Zoom Clips will streamline video creation, allowing users to generate clips using personalised AI avatars and user-provided scripts.

These avatars are included in the add-on and available separately. The add-on will be available in April for $12 per user per month, and the personal coach will launch in June.
