Mitel has expanded its international sales C-Suite by appointing Simon Skellon as its new SVP and Head of International Region for the EMEA and APAC.
Skellon will oversee Mitel’s sales strategy in the EMEA — excluding the DACH region, which comprises Germany, Austria and Switzerland — and APAC regions. He will bolster Mitel’s global expansion plans following 2023’s Unify acquisition.
Skellon commented:
I look forward to working with the global sales team to drive further growth across our international markets and bring more value to our partners. While we work on a seamless integration between Mitel and Unify teams, we’ll be focused on ensuring our partners can capitalize on the benefits from the acquisition, including new service improvements, enhanced product capabilities and wider market reach.”
With over 25 years of experience in business communications, Skellon is a seasoned professional in the UC market. He has forged strong relationships with channel partners and resellers across industries. Skellon’s CV includes 18 years at Mitel in sales leadership roles before joining Atos Unify, where he developed and managed strategies across over 50 markets.
“Simon has immense experience running international sales operations and knows both Mitel and Unify incredibly well, so he is uniquely placed to help us achieve our goals,” added Tarun Loomba, Mitel’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “With the recent acquisition of Unify, we have the footprint, portfolio and talent required to be the top player in the enterprise UC market globally, and I’m confident that Simon and his leadership team will lead us to success.”
Skellon’s sales leadership team now includes Stuart Aldridge, Head of UK, Ireland, and South Africa, Christophe Chamy, VP Southern Europe including France, French-speaking Africa, Italy and Iberia, Thomas Veit, VP Northern Europe including Benelux, the Nordics, the CIS countries, Poland and Eastern Europe, Narayan Gurusamy, Head of APAC/MENA covering India, China, ASEAN, Turkey, and Terence Tutaan, Head of Australia, New Zealand, and Pacific Islands.
Mitel Launches DACH Sales Team to Expand Regional Presence
The reason why Skellon’s remit excludes the DACH region is that Mitel has created a dedicated DACH sales team to expand its presence in the region, while Christian Jessel has been appointed as Mitel’s new Head of DACH.
This step comes after a period of growth following the acquisition of Unify last year, showcasing Mitel’s aspiration to solidify its position as the leading UC player in the DACH region.
In his new role, Jessel will oversee Mitel’s DACH sales strategy, driving growth in the critical markets of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. With a strong tech background and deep vertical market knowledge in finance, healthcare, and the public sector, Mitel stresses that Jessel is well-suited for the position. He began his career at Fujitsu before holding senior roles at Siemens Enterprise Communications and Unify, most recently serving as Head of Central Europe at Unify.
“I’m really excited to be joining the Mitel leadership team at such a pivotal time for the company and to be able to lead the growth strategy for the DACH region,” Jessel said. “We have a leading presence in this market through both direct and indirect sales channels, which allows us to better respond to the needs of our customers and partners and offer customized solutions.”
Mitel’s Year of C-Suite Change
2023 was a significant year for Mitel in its changes at the top.
In October, the vendor appointed Charles-Henry Duroyan as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Head of Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A), while, in November, Mitel appointed Luiz Domingos as its new Chief Technology Officer. Domingos was also named Head of Large Enterprise R&D and joined Mitel through the company’s Unify acquisition.
In September, Mitel appointed Sophie Ames as its new EVP and Head of Human Resources Operations in more than 30 countries. Her official title at Mitel will be Employee Value Proposition (EVP) and Chief People Officer (CPO), securing her a position in the company’s C-suite.
