Sennheiser has announced a new firmware update for its TeamConnect (TC) Bar Solutions with firmware version 1.3.8 now available as a free download.

The updates applies to both the TC Bar S and TC Bar M and focuses on improving camera performance, audio flexibility, network reliability, security compliance, and energy efficiency.

The TeamConnect Bar range is designed for small to mid-sized meeting rooms and collaboration spaces.

Each device combines microphones, speakers, and a 4K camera into a single unit. The TC Bar S includes four microphones and two speakers, while the TC Bar M offers six microphones and four speakers. Both models are certified for Microsoft Teams and are built to support simple setup and brand-agnostic integration.

Key Improvements

With this latest firmware release, Sennheiser continues to refine the TeamConnect Bar platform to better support modern collaboration needs.

One of the key improvements in firmware 1.3.8 is the enhanced performance of the TeamConnect Bars’ 4K AI-enabled camera.

The update reduces frame movement during camera transitions. As a result, video appears smoother and more natural during meetings.

This change improves the experience when using features such as person tiling and auto-framing. Camera movements are less abrupt and feel more lifelike, especially when participants move around the room.

The update also introduces a new default camera mode. This mode provides more consistent camera behaviour across meetings and addresses previous feedback around unpredictable framing changes.

While the default behaviour is more stable, users can still make temporary camera adjustments during meetings using a remote control.

Together, these changes aim to help reduce distractions and improve the overall quality of video meetings.

Additional Audio Output Options via Dante

Firmware 1.3.8 also expands audio capabilities for the TeamConnect Bars.

Both models include built-in full-range stereo speakers designed to deliver high-quality audio without additional hardware. However, some rooms require extra speakers for full coverage.

With the new firmware, users can now connect external or standalone speakers via Dante. This makes it easier to extend audio output in larger rooms or integrate the TC Bars into existing Dante-based AV systems.

In addition, external speakers connected through Dante can be used to stream audio continuously to Sennheiser’s MobileConnect solution. This supports bi-directional communication and enables use cases such as overflow rooms or shared audio across multiple spaces.

These updates allow the TeamConnect Bars to support a wider range of room sizes and deployment scenarios.

Faster Wake-Up Times

The firmware update also improves device readiness and energy efficiency.

Sennheiser has optimised the default energy mode, which significantly reduces standby wake-up times. This helps meetings start on time without delays caused by devices powering up.

For environments where instant availability is required, the update adds an optional “Always On” mode. When enabled, the TeamConnect Bar remains ready for use at all times.

These improvements are designed to balance performance with energy efficiency. They also support organisations looking to reduce unnecessary power consumption without affecting usability.

Comparison in a Crowded Market

Sennheiser’s TeamConnect Bars sit in a competitive segment of all-in-one video conferencing and unified communications hardware.

The market for collaboration bars and video-enabled meeting solutions has grown rapidly as organisations modernise rooms and support hybrid work.

Competitors include Logitech’s Rally Bar series, which offers plug-and-play options with AI-driven video framing and broad platform support for Teams, Zoom, and other services.

Large enterprise deployments often consider systems from Crestron and Yealink, both of which offer integrated soundbars and camera solutions tailored for Microsoft Teams Rooms or Zoom Rooms, along with comprehensive device management tools.

Other players like Bose and Jabra have also entered the videobar arena with products designed for small to medium spaces, combining beamforming audio with 4K cameras for plug-and-play collaboration.

Meanwhile, specialist vendors such as Neat and EPOS focus on seamless platform certification and simplified user experiences, giving IT teams multiple options depending on room size, budget, and preferred conferencing platforms.

Availability and Management

Firmware version 1.3.8 is available at no cost. Users can download and install the update through Sennheiser Control Cockpit, the company’s centralised device management platform.

The firmware is also available via the Sennheiser website by selecting the TC Bar S or TC Bar M product pages and navigating to the downloads section.
