Crestron has announced it will partner with Sustainability in AV (SAVe) as well as uphold its previous sustainability commitments.

The video conferencing solutions provider Crestron will join SAVe as a “Sustaining Sponsor”. Its support will help the non-profit organisation to educate and inspire change within the audio-visual (AV) industry towards more environmentally friendly business practices.

Crestron is simultaneously doubling down on its various initiatives relating to sustainable design, manufacturing, and shipping.

Brad Hintze, EVP of Global Marketing at Crestron, explained that its new partnership with SAVe will bolster its sustainability drive beyond its own operations: “As an organisation, we have been making strides to use eco-friendly packaging materials, minimise plastic use, and ensure product lifecycle longevity.

Crestron is only one piece of the puzzle, and partnering with SAVe empowers us as an organisation to support these important educational tracks and advocacy initiatives that support sustainability on an even greater scale.”

SAVe Partnership

SAVe is a global network of AV organisations taking action to meet the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The SDGs, adopted by all 193 members of the United Nations, include 17 major goals to achieve by 2023, from eliminating poverty and hunger to promoting health, inclusivity, equality, and, of course, affordable and sustainable energy. Within these headline goals are 169 specific targets that SAVe believes could result in the end of global warming and a happier and fairer world for everyone.

SAVe relies upon stakeholders and sponsors such as Crestron to continue its outreach and advocacy work.

SAVe may focus on a single industry, but its impact could be enormous when you consider that Pro AV is expected to generate $402 billion by 2028, according to Mediascape. That is a step up of nearly $100 billion from 2023.

SAVe Founder and President Christina De Bono reacted to the news of Crestron’s sponsorship commitment:

I am thrilled that Crestron has become our Sustaining Sponsor in support of SAVe.”

“This demonstrates their genuine dedication to advancing our mission of integrating the Sustainable Development Goals into the pro AV industry.”

Crestron’s Sustainability Commitments

Crestron’s website outlines its environmental vision and commitments regarding its design, manufacturing, and shipping practices.

Sustainable design: From a design perspective, Crestron has worked towards Go Green product design initiatives that reduce energy consumption via automation, increase sustainability, and meet energy code standards.

For example, intelligent lighting and environmental control systems reduce energy wastage and provide real-time energy tracking.

Internal programs like the BikeShare and Workplace Charging Program also help minimise employee energy usage.

Sustainable manufacturing: Crestron’s Supply Chain Code of Conduct outlines its commitment to meeting all relevant environmental laws to its business and its global supply chain partners, including air, noise, water pollution, and more.

It supports product longevity via quality testing, sustainable engineering practices, post-sale services, and support.

The company is also committed to recycling waste materials like metals and plastics in a responsible manner and reducing paper usage through paperless business transactions.

Sustainable shipping: Crestron has initiatives in place to decrease single-use plastics, use eco-friendly packaging materials, and take action to avoid adding waste to landfills.

As well as improving its reputation by showing consumers it is serious about its environmental responsibilities, sustainability practices can also reduce business operating costs in certain areas, improve risk management, increase talent retention, and more.

In January this year, Prakash Arunkundrum, Logitech’s COO, spoke to UC Today’s Kieran Devlin live from ISE 2024 about its groundbreaking sustainability strategy.
