AV solutions provider Extron has announced the shipping of its WC Pro Series workspace automation controllers.
The WC Pro 150 OCS and WC Pro 160, unveiled in spring of 2024, are now available to customers and promise to be a significant step forward in display control and automation for workspaces of all sizes.
Vice President of Marketing at Extron Europe Rainer Stiehl said on the blog post:
“Our WC Pro Series is another way Extron is adding the benefits of automation to today’s workspaces,”
“These compact, integration-friendly controllers are perfect for any space where you’d like convenient display power control,” he continued.
Key Features and Capabilities
The workspace automation controllers—compact devices designed to simplify and automate display management in office and meeting room environments—aim to offer more seamless interaction for users and their systems.
“Our WC Pro Series is another way that Extron is adding the benefits of automation to today’s workspaces,”
Extron’s Chief Marketing Officer Casey Hall said on the release of the product.
“These compact, integration-friendly controllers are perfect for any space where you’d like convenient display power control.”
Extron’s WC Pro Series does this with intuitive features that automatically control display power and settings based on room occupancy.
These features are either built into the controller or easily integrated as part of a streamlined room automation system.
Other key functions include turning off displays when no motion is detected at the end of a meeting.
On the more technical side, the controllers offer a configuring display control through multiple protocols like Ethernet, RS-232, or IR, and supports Power over Ethernet for easy installation and for a less cluttered meeting space.
Plus, the ability to customise settings via a web-based configuration option gives less-technically minded users the ability to customise the options without the need of IT staff.
Additional control capabilities are available through LinkLicense, which provide access to Extron’s full line of TouchLink Pro touchpanels and Network Button Panels for a user interface that support mobile devices or computers as primary control interfaces.
Equally, these controllers mean multiple mounting options are available for installation, providing flexibility in placement depending on the room layout and user preferences.
Technical Deep Dive
The WC Pro Series offers sophisticated technical capabilities that address complex workspace automation needs.
WC Pro 150 OCS model, for instance, provides advanced sensing technologies, including passive infrared (PIR) and acoustic sensors.
This comprehensive sensing approach ensures reliable occupancy detection, allowing for precise and efficient display control across various workspace configurations.
With 4K HDMI capabilities—both in output with CEC control and pass through input— the controllers deliver tangible benefits that go beyond simple display management.
By automating routine tasks, the WC Pro Series can help organisations reduce energy consumption, simplify technology interactions, and create more intelligent workspace environments.
Extron’s other AV innovations
The addition of Extron’s WC Pro Series workspace automation controllers represents another advancement in its display control technology.
Last year, Extron worked on a number of additional solutions to further augment their AV offerings to meeting spaces.
It made a push to streamline AV control with the launch of its new Flex55 and EU Series of Network Button Panels for Extron control systems.
Plus, Extron has unveiled two new 8K HDMI distribution amplifiers designed to enhance AV performance.
