AV integrator Tateside has upgraded the audiovisual systems of Daylesford Organic Farm, an organic farm, wellness centre, and dining establishment.

In a compelling case study, Tateside described how it modernised the AV infrastructure of the estate, which encompasses the Daylesford Organic Farm Shop, Bamford Wellness Spa, The Club by Bamford, Bamford Barn and Daylesford Stays, which includes holiday cottages and pubs with rooms, The Wild Rabbit, The Fox in Oddington and The Bell in Charlbury.

Tateside outlined that the project involved integrating AV solutions into several areas of the farm, each with unique requirements and challenges. The scope required a year-long planning process, culminating in the integration of AV systems that align with Daylesford’s commitment to detail and design-centric approach. Tateside stressed that this necessitated a close partnership with Daylesford’s in-house architectural team to ensure the project’s success.

Bill Burles, IT Manager at Daylesford Organic, commented:

Tateside worked seamlessly with our architects and IT team to investigate the best solution to our requirements. Without Tateside organising for us to visit Samsung HQ to view the products, we would have likely chosen a lesser option. Now, we’ve ended up with a stunning solution that everyone has complimented us on.”

More Specifics On the Upgrade

Tateside began working with Daylesford Organic around eight years ago. Its initial involvement entailed supplying and installing background audio in the brand’s London farm shops.

“Over the years, we’ve gradually expanded our role to cover the technology integration across the entire collection, including the pubs, the Club by Bamford and Heritage House, their new event space,” added Ben Landi, Project Manager at Tateside.

Heritage House, an event space and ceremony hall, was a focal point for the Tateside team’s project. The venue required an AV system that was both adaptable and user-friendly to cater to a wide range of events, from intimate gatherings to large-scale celebrations.

The architects prioritised a discreet aesthetic for Heritage House’s three spaces, aiming to avoid the visual clutter of loudspeakers. This led to a strategic distribution of smaller loudspeakers throughout the space to ensure coverage without detracting from the design. Usability was also crucial to creating a system that was simple enough for anyone to operate without technical knowledge.

Heritage House’s audio system employs Martin Audio CDD5 loudspeakers and SX112 compact subwoofers paired with a Bose backend using PowerMatch amplifiers. The central section boasts seven DJ input plates, allowing flexible DJ setups in any room or outdoors on the terrace. The terrace itself features Bowers & Wilkins weather-proof AM1 loudspeakers.

A 146-inch 2K Samsung ‘The Wall’ LED display is a multipurpose visual element for myriad events, controlled via a Blustream app on an iPad for easy content management. The Heritage House AV system is fully networked with Dante audio over IP, and visual content is managed by a BrightSign XT244 video engine, while Blustream handles switching and signal management, ensuring a consistent user experience throughout Daylesford.

At The Club by Bamford, an exclusive private members’ wellness club, Tateside introduced Bose in-ceiling loudspeakers, white Martin Audio loudspeakers mounted on the gym walls, and several pairs from the Sonance Extreme weather-proof range for ambient sound in the humid pool area. Additionally, a pair of Bower & Wilkins outdoor loudspeakers were installed to enhance the wellness experience.

Tateside contributed to the Daylesford Stays business by integrating Bose speakers for background audio at The Wild Rabbit, The Fox in Oddington, and The Bell in Charlbury. To guarantee dependability, these pubs implemented an analogue cloud-based system rather than a networked one.

“We began working with Tateside at an early stage of the design process, enabling us to fully integrate their experience and AV design suggestions before we got to the site,” explained Jonathon Phillips, Architectural Designer at Daylesford Organic. “The Tateside team were always responsive and flexible to the required design changes as the AV brief evolved.”
