Bites is a mobile-first learning management platform that helps frontline workers access content when needed. Bites Learning was founded in 2016 and has gained tremendous traction in the last few years. Companies like Unilever, H&M, HP, and Carolina Lemke rely on Bites to share knowledge with their frontline workforce.
Bites has several exciting features that make it ideal for frontline employees. To begin with, it has a social media-like interface so that knowledge is shared in a format that’s already familiar to your workforce. You can create content from scratch using Bites’ built-in editor, share across various mobile channels, and monitor learner engagement through advanced analytics. Bites integrate with your favourite communication and collaboration platforms to enable content delivery, and this includes Microsoft Teams. You can share Bites content via Teams, Slack, Line, SMS, iMessage, and even WhatsApp.

- Lumio for Microsoft Teams Review: Interactive, Visually-Rich Learning Sessions on Teams
Bites announced its new Microsoft Teams app for frontline training in May of 2021. At that time, a massive portion of the global workforce relied on Teams for remote learning and connecting their distributed teams, on-site and WFH. Keeping frontline employees in healthcare, F&B, hospitality, education, logistics, etc., updated on new knowledge items became increasingly difficult with the closure of offices. That’s why Bites launched a dedicated app for Teams that would enable content delivery and provide a holistic learning experience via Teams on a frontline worker’s smartphone.
Let’s now deep-dive into our review of Bites for Teams.
Inside Bites for Microsoft Teams
Bites is free for up to 25 users, but you will need a paid account to be able to use the Teams integration. Pricing starts at $3 per user per month for a 50-member team and gets increasingly more affordable as you grow. Once you have an active Bites subscription., you need to set up a content library – Bites supports in-app content creation via YouTube, PowerPoint, and audio/video recording. You will be able to access any content you create from Teams.
Once your Bites account is set up, head to Microsoft AppSource to download the Teams integration.
Here are the key features to expect:
- The Bites chatbot – The Bites chatbot allows you to perform simple functions like interacting with the app, signing in/out of your account, and viewing the Bites library. As soon as you install the app, you will be greeted by the bot. Sign in to be able to view your entire content library. You can also type in the name of a specific lesson; the bot will retrieve the content for your perusal immediately.
- Accessing the Bites library – The Bites integration for Teams lets you access the content library associated with your account without leaving the Teams environment. When you sign in to your account, the bot will allow you to view the library and browse through all the existing content or “Bites.”
- Interactive learning experiences – Interactive learning experiences or Bites have four components – a video, a questionnaire, a set of summary flashcards, and a discussion where multiple learners can share comments. All the Bites you have created using the primary platform will be available via Teams.
- Pinned Bites as channels tabs – You can pin a specific learning experience as a channel tab so that all channel members can access the Bite, go through the lesson, and participate in the discussion. This can be extremely useful when a Bite covers non-generic topics. For example, a team of field service agents in the telecom sector might want to have a Bite explaining a piece of equipment at their fingertips.
- Bites Learning dashboard – The Bites for Teams app lets users monitor their progress through a personalised dashboard. Here, they can view all the Bites associated with their account, their content playlists, and engagement statistics.
- Single sign-on (SSO) – You can use your Microsoft SSO credentials to sign in to the app. This enables security and streamlines user management.
