Timeneye is a time-tracking tool built by the Italian software development company DM Digital. The platform features smart time-tracking capabilities that map person-hours with client and project details, giving you granular visibility into per-employee time utilization. It can be leveraged for various use cases – to improve project efficiency, optimize team-wise effort distribution, and manage complex projects, among other things.

The company announced the Timeneye app for Microsoft Teams in 2019. Notably, the tool integrates with various other applications to accurately calculate how much time employees are putting in and on which tasks. Apart from Teams, you can connect Timeneye with Asana, Basecamp, Google Workspace, Todoist, Trello, Zendesk, and more.

Inside Timeneye for Microsoft Teams

Installing Timeneye is as simple as opening your Microsoft Teams app store from the left navigation bar and searching for the app under the productivity section. Once the app is in place, you will be able to see your Timeneye dashboard, list of projects, and analytics reports directly from Teams.

The key features of the Timeneye include:

  • Timesheet recording – Each workday appears as a list of hourly slots. You can click on any slot to edit how your hours were utilized. You’ll be prompted to enter project details, start time, end time, and other discrete information for every entry. The dashboard is straightforward with an intuitive UX – for example, you can click to stretch a slot to modify hours utilization
  • Colour-coded dashboard – Your hours-utilization dashboard is colour-coded as per the project details. This ensures that you are equitably distributing your time across projects at hand, and no task is left out.
  • A timer functionality – In addition to manually registering hourly entries, you can also click on the “Start Timer” button. This will record your time on an activity, giving better visibility into project hours and billing.
  • Time tracking on weekends – This is a handy but straightforward function – just as you follow time over weekdays, you can choose to enter hours on weekends and optionally. This feature ensures accurate information on project requirements, and you can calculate your effort estimations accordingly.
  • Projects view – Right beside the main dashboard tab on the Timeneye app, you’ll find the projects tab for monitoring time utilization for each project. Here, you’ll find a graph mapping effort vs. project progress, total time spent, hours spent on individual project tasks, and the team members involved. You’ll also be able to edit project details and view/export a project report summary.
  • Productivity analysis – The Timeneye app makes it easy to analyze your productivity for each project and hours utilization vs. the allocated budget. It will display the billable hours, the total time devoted, and your ongoing profitability from open and closed projects.
  • Daily, weekly, and monthly reports – The reports feature can come in handy when sharing a productivity and status update with external (non-Teams) users and other project stakeholders. Timeneye automatically generates reports on productivity and hours utilization for a specific day, week, or month, with various export options.
  • Integration with the rest of the Microsoft ecosystem – In addition to time tracking on Teams, you can connect Timeneye with Office 365 to follow time for Microsoft To-Do tasks, Microsoft Planner tasks, and Outlook Calendar events. This gives you complete visibility into hours utilization across various Microsoft products.

Why the Timeneye App Makes a Difference

Timeneye is chock-full of useful features while maintaining an affordable price point. For just $6 per user per month, you can add unlimited projects, unlimited clients, multi-platform time tracking, advanced reports, and more. Timeneye generates clear productivity insights, so you are always within budget, and it can also act as a personal time-tracking tool for individual users.

What We Think

Companies relying on Microsoft and Office 365 tools for daily productivity should consider Timeneye, mainly if they are service-based companies with a direct hours-to-billing correlation.
