timeghost is designed entirely for Microsoft users, which means that you can log in with your Office 365 credentials and generate analytics reports using Microsoft Power Automate. timeghost’s key capability is that it reminds you of the small tasks and minor effort entries that you might have forgotten, but which could make a significant difference to your timesheet calculation and effort-based client invoicing.
To enable these capabilities, timeghost leverages three key solutions components: a timer, an activity feed, and a performance dashboard. The timer allows automated and manual time tracking for your projects and sub-tasks. These are mapped against your daily working hours. The activity feed automatically records Office 365 usage through back-end integrations. You can link the feed to Teams, Planner, Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint, Azure DevOps and other Microsoft tools through pre-built connectors. There’s also a Zapier integration if you connect timeghost with other services. Finally, the dashboard presents a comprehensive view of your team’s time utilisation and performance, which is suitable for managers.
The timeghost Teams app brings all of these features into the Microsoft Teams environment, which means that you can access the timer, monitor your feed, and view the dashboard. There are a number of other features as well – let us review it in detail.
Inside timeghost for Teams
You can download timeghost directly from Microsoft AppSource. Or, you may open the application store from the left navigation pane of your Teams window to install the app. This will get you a full-featured free trial edition that is valid for 30 days. After the trial period, timeghost will set you back by approximately INR 609 or $8.3 per user per month.
You can use your Microsoft account credentials to log into timeghost. Here are the key features to expect:
- The work timer – You can use the timeghost Teams app to log time against specific projects or internal tasks. The app will show you your daily working hours, and you can select periods within your workday when you have put in productive efforts.
- The activity feed – Like the primary web app, the timeghost Teams app will also show you a list of tasks that you have completed across the day. The timeghost feed will automatically ingest Microsoft Teams calls, and all participants will see hours logged against their meeting time. The company also provides a pre-built automation template that uses Power Automate to streamline feed generation and time tracking further. Using the template, you can configure a workflow that creates a feed activity whenever someone mentions you on Teams.
- The timeghost dashboard – The dashboard is where managers and team leaders can view the time logged by team members. You can use Power Automate to configure more advanced functionalities. Dashboard records can also be exported as Excel sheets or CSD files.
- Drag and drop functionality – When a co-worker or team member completes an activity via the timeghost feed, you can drag and drop the activity into your own calendar. For example, a colleague might upload a Word doc report on the activity feed. You can drag and drop the file to log time against that report’s creation in your calendar.
- Automated reminders – One of the most significant advantages of using the timeghost Teams app is that it automatically sends you time-tracking reminders for work performed inside Teams. Whether you have taken a short, minutes-long call or spoken to a colleague over chat, the app will register and remind you about all unaccounted-for hours.
Why the timeghost App Makes a Difference
timeghost’s biggest USP is that it reminds you about those short, unaccounted-for slots that make a big difference in effort estimation and billing.
What We Think
timeghost is available as a free app and at a highly affordable price point during the trial period. Companies relying on Microsoft 365 for productivity in a big way can gain from the platform.
