It’s been another scorcher of a week in the unified communication and collaboration space. As companies from all backgrounds continue to evolve to suit the “new normal,” we’re beginning to get a better look at what life might look like after COVID-19.

In the last 7 days, we’ve published our latest Security, Regulations, and Compliance round table, with insights from ThetaLake, Intrado, Fonative, Content Guru and CallCabinet. We’ve also examined some of the impressive ways companies are staying ahead of the coronavirus crisis demands.

If you haven’t had a chance to check out all of our stories this week, here are some of the highlights you don’t want to miss.

Security, Regulations and Compliance Roundtable

While trends in the communication and collaboration landscape change, one thing will always remain the same. Companies need to feel confident that the services they use are reliable, secure, and compliant. In a world where privacy is key, customers are relying on leading companies to keep their needs in mind with everything from end-to-end encryption, to advanced new tools.

We caught up with leaders from Content Guru, CallCabinet, Fonative, Intrado, and ThetaLake, to see what they had to say about the changing state of communication regulations. In our latest Roundtable, you’ll find insights into some of the biggest security challenges that teams are facing today, particularly in the wake of COVID-19. We also offer insights on how to address those challenges, and the role AI might play in the future of the industry.

Five9 Announces Record-Breaking Q2

Leading cloud contact centre provider, Five9, recently announced its record-breaking performance for the second quarter. The company has seen a value increase of around 29%, equalling approximately $99.8 million in revenue. According to spokespeople from the team, much of this growth comes from the catalyst of COVID-19, and the role the pandemic is playing in pushing people towards the cloud.

Five0 also announced a series of product additions and updates to support the companies making the transition into cloud contact centre environments. Updated tools include conversational artificial intelligence support from the Five9 virtual agent. You can also access new solutions for workflow automation and optimization. Staying Ahead of Demand with Google

Speaking of companies that are continuing to thrive during the pandemic, Google recently published a blog post on its efforts in the COVID-19 world. According to Google, the influx of new demand for cloud-based solutions had the potential to be a significant challenge for the team. However, by staying one step ahead of the curve, Google made sure it could adhere to the needs of its audience.

The SRE team for Google Meet jumped into action immediately, improving everything from capacity, to control options and dependency requirements. Google also explored various new opportunities to expand regional availability and update what teams could expect from Meet. Check out our recent story to learn how Google used canary environments and careful planning to delight its user base.

Slack Announces Security Updates

Security has been one of the biggest issues facing teams that are making the shift to the digital working environment today. Though many companies know that the only way forward is through the cloud, they’re often concerned that the tools they’re using may not have the right security systems in place to keep data safe. Responding to this concern, leading collaboration tool Slack announced a series of security updates to its platform.

The Slack Enterprise Key Management support for Workflow builder will improve the encryption available in modern workflows. Slack also announced a new Splunk app, which allows users to ingest activity from audit logs to visualise pre-build dashboards. Check out the latest updates here.

Zoom Moves Closer to a China Exit?

Over the years, Zoom has evolved from being a plucky video conferencing company, to one of the most popular apps in the world. The company has gained incredible traction, particularly in 2020, when COVID-19 pushed more of us to work form home. Zoom even gained some significant presence in China, one of the more restricted companies in the world.

Unfortunately, after China expressed its unhappiness with Zoom allowing groups to communicate with the outside world, Zoom has had to shift its strategy. There’s a clear timeline, it seems, for when Zoom plans to remove it’s presence from the country entirely. Check out the information in our latest report here.
